  • Registering the game question

Ok, got everything installed but I only have a Collecters Edition serial number not a normal one, so I can't register on Stardock for updates.

I'm sure I saw someone mention that this was a known issue with the UK special edition and they'd got their other serial number from somewhere but I can't find that post again. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

I believe there is a sticky on the GalCiv2 forum for this. If I remember correctly, Paradox messed up the serial numbers and didn't include the correct ones. You just need to contact sales at stardock dot com and they'll set you up with a correct serial number. Install Stardock Central, plug that number in and you'll be downloading updates in no time.

No need to email anyone, you can generate yourself a real serial for the game by entering the CE serial here: http://www.galciv2.com/paradox

It'll show up on the screen and be emailed to the addy provided.

I had to do this too, since I ordered from play.com. Love the material the box is made out of, btw. Also, Paradox
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

That's some nice customer service! (Especially compared to companies that won't let you return games even if they're missing the CD key or have the wrong discs - although that hasn't happened to me, it did happen to a friend. He bought the Warlords III battle-chest and it had two warlords III CDs and no frozen throne CD.)

Excellent! Worked perfectly, thanks for the help.

I did look at the GalCiv 2 forums but couldn't see anything immediately and their forums are really hard to navigate.

Just bought and installed the CE myself. I'm clueless to be honest. Neither the serial # that was provided with the game nor the new one got accepted by that Stardock Central thingy but it seems I'm downloading stuff anyway. I am updating now?

            Download finished, gotta restart now.

Restarted. Now I'm downloading that bonus pack from the site. I don't understand why I was downloading stuff from the Stardock Central if it keeps telling me my serial # (the one I got from the email) is invalid.

Still have trouble making out whether my serial ever got accepted. I get a notification there's a new update, I click "update now", the thingy says "wrong serial", I just click "update now" again, and the update goes ahead.

The one I got from the link above was the one I had to use in Stardock Central, that worked fine.

I had to search around a bit to find the place where you edited the serial number though.

Here's me again: click "update now", proggie says: "no go imago", click it again, proggie goes crashing. Restart it, proggie says "ok amigo, me no crash, me download files, but me no install files". Even had an error log that states my account information is invalid. Yet, proggie updates the movie, multimedia and tutorial files anyway (what? no valid information required for those then?). Finally, try again to update the main software by clicking "update application", and the download and installation go ahead without problems.

As if I'm dealing with a woman. She initially may say "no", at first, but what she really want is you to try harder.

That is a very weird problem.

Where did you put in the serial number in SDC?
