  • Special ship devices?

The tech tree looks pretty sparse of devices - What devices are there that you can put on your ships, not including standard components (engines, lasers, missiles, mass drivers, armor, shields, point-defense, etc)?

For example, in MoO 2 there were a great variety of special devices which you could place on your ships. You could only place 8 special devices in a ship, however, and they did take up space and add to the cost of the ship. Some devices from MoO 2:
Battle scanner: Adds 50% to your chance to hit with beam weapons
Inertial stabilizer: +50% beam defense, half turning costs
Heavy armor: Triple armor hitpoints. Also seems to negate the armor-piercing weapon modification (at least in 1.40b22).
    Reinforced hull: Triple hull hitpoints.
Transporters: Lets you beam troops onto enemy ships from a fair distance away, if the shield facing you is down.
Lightning field: 50% chance to destroy incoming missles and fighters
Shield Capacitor: +70% shield recharge rate

    And many many more.

So what special ship devices does GalCiv II let you put on your ships, if any?

If there aren't any special ship devices, does anyone know why they were omitted? For balance, or...?
"For it must be noted, that men must either be caressed or else annihilated; they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for great ones; the injury therefore that we do to a man must be such that we need not fear his vengeance." - Niccolo Machiavelli

The "other" things are various engines, life support (extends range) and sensors.

Never heard of the other specials you are talking about (they weren't in GalCiv 1) but some sound kinda cool.

There's also the survey modules, troop modules, colony modules, trade modules, constructor modules.
