You can take advantage of the AI knowledge. The AI tends to stick with pathetic speed 2 colony ships, while you can easily design one that goes speed 3 or faster. If you see a colony ship headed for a star, still in the fog, send one of your own ships to get there first. The AI wouldn't be going there unless there was something worth getting.

There's a simple way to verify. Take a screenshot of a habitable world at a non-yellow star. Than would be far easier than for me to try to prove it the other way.

I'm fairly certain I've seen non-yellow stars with habitable planets. I will check tonight and try and post a screenshot.

I believe the following question has been neglected so far:

You have to "un-tick" the 'always start from scratch' option in the gameplay options - then hitting the 'upgrade' button will work just how you'd expect it to work (or @least how i expected it to work):
The old version is brought up on the design screen and you can modify it by selecting specific parts (click the respective icon at the top of the screen), hitting the remove button and then placing the upgrade.
Attention: Don't forget to save the upgraded design under a new name and modify its description...Last edited by ghostcat; April 6, 2006, 10:46.
