  • More feedback on AI-AI interaction?

    Talking about in-game messages.

Currently i think the only message you get about AI-AI interaction is when they make peace.

In my recent game, i decided to play the role of an arms dealer/puppet master, basically helping the small guys in their wars by giving them ships and military starbases, to try and keep the galaxy as balanced as possible. But as it was now, i'm always the last one to find out when two factions are warring each other, too often i either find out because i happen to see combat between the two civs, or because one of them asks for my help. A number of times i got the "X and Y made peace" message without even knowing they were at war! Especially in the case of minor races it can be tedious to keep up to date on their wars.

What i'd love to see is messages when two civs (major or minor) go to war. But also, if the espionage level is high enough, messages when two AIs are trading with each other, and also possibly what they have traded.

I was quite surprised to see that a very powerfull military starbase i had built for the Korx was now in the hands of the Drengin, i'd like to know that kind of stuff the moment it happens (especially if i have advanced espionage level with both civs), and not find out about it by chance!

So to summarize, pretty please include the following
    - a message when two AI civs go to war
    - depending on espionage level, a message when two AI civs trade with each other
    - depending on espionage level, also include what the AI civs traded.
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

I agree completely, the simple notification of when AIs go to war is much missed from Civ 4. Info on AI trades, based on intelligence, would be awesome.

Ideally, these types of messages would drop down at the start of a turn with all the other messages for that turn. I imagine a yellow color icon with some type of diplomatic-looking symbol.

You could also add options to turn off notification of AI wars or AI trades so that if you didn't want to be bothered by these messages, you wouldn't be.

For the record, I do enjoy the fact that the game notifies me when a minor is paying tribute, though its kind of an odd message. I really enjoy this level of detail and would like to see it more commonplace, though also with options to turn it off for those who prefer not to monitor the situation as closely. This kind of thing really helps the game to be more immersive.

You can find out who as war by digging throught the various submenus under the "diplomacy" tab. However, you guys are right in that there should be a message when people go to war- perhaps in the GNN page that you get at the start of each turn. I think that this is probably a bug, since we do get messages about wars ending and tributes being paid.
