  • GalCiv 2 for Civ 4 players

Has anyone written any guides for Civ IV players? I think it would be helpful if there was something that talked about how the games relate to each other.

I know the games aren't literally related but they both are being distributed or published by Take 2.

    From EB games:
    GC2: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/259813.asp

    CV4: http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/259804.asp

If no one else is interested, I can write something but I can only download beta 5 from Stardock Central.
I don't know if I'd want to be friends with people who would have me as their friend..

That would be great if someone wrote one.

I could pass it over to Soren (over at Firaxis) to check it out too to see what if he wanted to add something to it.

I would think that GC2 relates more to titles of old from which Brad drew some inspiration: Ascendancy and Master of Orion II. That's just going off what I've read in previews, though. Maybe there are some similarities in there, somewhere. My copy's on preorder, so I'll find out in a month or so.

Ascendancy was one of those madly addictive games whose addiction length was measured in hours or days, not months or years. Great potential, no depth, fatal flaws, and the weakest AI ever released with a commercial product. MOO2 was an unbalanced micromanagement nightmare. Both titles had strong elements, but a weak total package. GalCiv1 was far and away superior to either, and I hope Brad has chosen wisely in which bits he has decided to borrow for GC2.
