Wow.
Was puttering around last night with a new combo of race bonuses and I put +25 luck in as an afterthought more than anything else. An extra Ranger or two can always come in handy right?
Anyway I'd gotten to about the mid-point of a game in the largest galaxy size (I had battleships and was scrapping with the Yor/Drengin at the time who had everything up through dreadnought class) and up popped a message about some new ships that'd been located on some offbeat planet of mine.
"Great" I thought, "more cheap and useless tin cans to try and fob off on my erstwhile allies."
Then, halfway through moving my units around for the turn, the stack of corvettes came up. 100 of the things. 100!
These weren't your regulation dinky little tinpots either. I guess they got all of my +military bonuses or something because they were at attack 12, def 5 and move 10 (or somesuch) and had 30+ hp each.
I don't really know what my military rating was beforehand but it hadn't really been too hot and now it was well over 100. One murderous rampage through Drengin/Yor traderoutes later (using about a dozen of my new toys and only losing 2 in killing over 50 of theirs all the way up to frigates) and both were suing for peace.
Is this all because of my +luck bonus? Does this affect the number of ships you can find? More to the point, just how many ships can you actually find like this?
