I really like Galciv.
Aside from the lack of zoom on the main map and some rather obscure combat, I like it.
Ok, about research. Does anyone else agree that it is rather annoying that if you want to get something, say, transports, there is no easy way to find out the research path?
The new tech tree allows you to navigate forward and back, but if you want to beeline for a tech that suits your strategy, the game becomes a tedious forward, back, forward, back "let's check this tech to see what's next etc.."
I realize that this layout was probably meant to simulate the uncertain nature of research in general, but wow....i want a more definite tech tree structure.
Now, the metaverse.. I think it is the best thing for TBS that has happened so far.
The fact that you can join an empire and contribute your score to it, adds an infinite amount of replayability.
I'm always wanting to play another game of galciv to try and contribute more points to my empire.
I wish civ and smac had this.
