  • Windowed version?

I can't seem to get the windowed version of GalCiv to run. It pops open a window, but it disappears before I can see what it is.

I'm running XP on a 1.8Ghz, so there shouldn't be any problems there.

Yup, just downloaded it. I don't need to restart or anything, do I?

Couldn't hurt. I've never run the windowed version before so I can't offer any solid troubleshooting tips. Do you use SDC to download patches? You can try getting into chat and see if anyone knows why it's crashing. Javascout is usually there and eager to help.

From the info on SDC about the Windowed version:

Once installed, you will need to go to a command line, go to the GalCiv directory and then run GalCivW.exe. You must run your desktop at 16-bit color or else the program will disappear instantly on being run.
This sounds similar to your program; are you running in 16-bit color on your Windows desktop?
