  • Replaying Fallout 3 with mods.

I'm currently replaying Fallout 3 with all DLCs and a lot of mods. It is very, very awesome. Here's what I'm using:
    Fallout3.esm - Fallout itself
Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm - What it says on a tin

    The DLCs:
    Anchorage.esm
    ThePitt.esm
    BrokenSteel.esm
    PointLookout.esm
    Zeta.esm

Project Beauty HD version.esm - changes the faces on a lot of NPCs to be less goofy
Destruction.esm - makes a lot of items destructible
CALIBR.esm - a support mod that adds new ammo
Mart's Mutant Mod.esm - *GREAT* lots of new monsters, including some from original Fallouts (like Floaters and Wanamingos)
Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm - duh
StreetLights.esm - makes DC streetlights that work actually provide some light
DCInteriors_ComboEdition.esm - *GREAT* makes lots of houses in downtown DC enter-able. I've spent two evenings exploring just Seward Sq.
CFWRv4.esm - *GREAT* adds classic Fallout weapons and some more

These three files make rooms with no light dark:
    Realistic Interior Lighting.esp
    Realistic Interior Lighting - BS.esp
    Realistic Interior Lighting - OA.esp

    More patching:
    Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.esp
    Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.esp
    Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp
    Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.esp
    Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.esp

    More faces:
    Project Beauty- Broken Steel.esp
    Project Beauty- Point Lookout.esp

    DarNifiedUIF3.esp - makes the UI less console-ish
PIDL-lite(metric).esp - should provide a pop-up window with detailed weapon stats, haven't tried it ingame yet
StreetLights - Wasteland.esp - more streetlights, outside DC this time
Fellout-pipboylight.esp - stronger light, don't use it if you want to enjoy Fellout and Realistic Interior Lighting
GalaxyNewsRadio100[M].esp - *GREAT* adds 100 new songs to GNR
CONELRAD 640-1240.esp - another radio with prewar songs
    Existence2.0.esp - scary ambient radio

    More stuff for destructible objects:
    Destruction - Main.esp
    Destruction - Main - Statics.esp
    Destruction - DLC.esp
    Destruction - DLC - Statics.esp

DCInteriors_DLC_Collectables.esp - some more memorable useless stuff from DC to bring home

EVE.esp - cool energy weapon effects
    EVE Operation Anchorage.esp

    More MMM files:
    Mart's Mutant Mod.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - Project Beauty.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp
    Project Beauty- Point Lookout MMM.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - Hunting & Looting.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp
    Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp
Mart's Mutant Mod - Project Beauty (HD Addition).esp

    CombatEnhanced-Package v02.esp - makes the enemies a bit smarter

    More rain mod files:
Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp
Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp
Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp

*GREAT* Get rid of that green tint!
    Fellout-Full.esp
    Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp
    Fellout-PointLookout.esp
    Fellout-Zeta.esp
    Destruction - CP - Fellout.esp

CFWRloadlastEVE.esp - compat patch for EVE and CFWR

These two make weapon skill affect spread, not damage. Shotguns are deadly now.
    Smurf_Impact_WpnSkillDmg_None.esp
    Accuracy_Tweaks.esp

NoFastTravel.esp - *GREAT* changes the way you play. You can no longer warp back to the merchant to sell your loot or to the quest master.

RI_Sleep2.esp - makes sleeping heal less
WRWC - Classic Fallout.esp - crippled arm means no two-handed weapons, two crippled arms mean it's pugilism time!
NPCs Sleep Tighter.esp - you can sneak up on sleeping NPCs now
Realistic Death Physics.esp - corpses no long fly around when you kill them
FollowersHireContinued-CharismaCheck-KarmaCheck.esp - can hire more than 1 companion, like in original Fallouts
BM08RandomBobbleheadsFixed.esp - rearranges all bobbleheads to prevent powerplaying
QuickStart.esp - lets you skip the Vault 101 tutorial
Choose your own hairstyle (load this last on FOMM).esp - some file from PB???
    CASM.esp - smart savegame manager
merged.esp - a merged patch to prevent crashes

I still get some crashes with this loadout, but less than with overhaul mods like FWE and FOOK.

Jesus tap dancing Christ, that's a lot of mods.

The base game is so good, I'm not sure it needs that much tinkering; however, I will admit that some of them (more than one companion, more varied opponents, more GNR songs) do sound great.

I was 29 when I opened this thread; my first Social Security check will arrive in the mail next week it took so long to read through that list.

SimCity 4 is another game that tends to get LOADED with mods people have done. I had at one time a similarly-long list of things I'd added to my install. Most impressive thing I've ever seen was the Network Add-on Mod (NAM), as well other little tinkering mods adding to the transportation network like the Real Highway Mod (RHM) which if it hasn't already will likely get rolled into the NAM. They are absolute Must-Haves for SC4. Then you've got bazillions of buildings and assorted other stuff and effects people have done.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.

Are you playing with MikeH, Jon, or Lori?

The base game is good? Have you played Fallout 1 and 2?

I'm currently venturing into modding FO3 as well

What site do you get them off? I'm currently cruising Fallout3nexus.

There's even a mod to build your own settlement!

So if you eat fries with ketchup you should just eat something else?

The game is great. In fact, I want to finish the DLCs I haven't played before playing any extra content from the mods. It's just that adding mods makes it even better.

It's like telling people who enjoy FFH that they should go play something else.

Fallout3nexus is the place. Beware of mod conflicts, though.

This is why I hate playing on consoles.

Other than all the new gear, Zeta was a letdown. I don't blame you for skipping it.
