That's right - everyone else is merely stupid for liking such a great game, and you are above such frivolous pleasures.

Or you could get some skills and join us in the fun.

What's fun about dealing with children and playing the same ****ing maps over and over again?

Take out the addictive mechanics (perks, kill streaks) and you've got one dull ****ing game.

I should note that even by the end of MW2's short single-player campaign I was already getting bored of the gameplay. Same **** I've played for years.

The gameplay doesn't actually change in MP. The only thing that changes is the introduction of carrots.

You're being played and you like it, DrSpike.

Yeah god knows we don't want addictive mechanics in games! If you take the good bits out of any game by definition you've got a dull game left. Weak argument.

This just displays your ignorance further - if any doubt were left after this thread. The core difference between SP and MP is that people are more fun to play against than computer controlled enemies.

You actually have to work with your team to achieve goals (and there are lots of different gametypes), and the metagames around the maps are always shifting as new approaches are found. In short, you just don't know what you are talking about.

            You can't be serious?

Look, a ton of my friends play COD MW1/2 MP on PC and 360 and I've seen it. I'm not missing anything.

Maybe you're new to this FPS thing online, but I've been doing it since the 90s. It's a tired ****ing genre.

The only FPS game I play online is Team Fortress 2. And that's 'cause it's way ****ing better than these other games in what it does.

You think it's "more fun to play" against Xbox Live people, and you must have low ****ing standards. I can't stand listening to those *******s, and in any XBL game with randoms I play good ****ing luck getting people to work together in any sensible way.

Long story short, Xbox Live is full of people like you. Little brats that think they have "mad skills" and everyone else doesn't. That's exactly why I know better than to play **** like that.

Plus, I have more games than time to play them (I forgot to mention I also just bought the Total War series on Steam when it was on sale...), so the thought of me spending extra time playing the same game mechanics for a game that it's dull and repetitive is nauseating. I genuinely think I must be on some different intellectual plane than you, I've no other reason for why you find the gameplay fun and fresh of MW2 online.

Felch I can see, he's high all the time. You? Well, you know what I think.

Well then you must be interpreting what you see pretty poorly if you think SP and MP gameplay are the same (minus the perk carrots etc).

I think you're getting mad here in proportion to the level of spanking you're receiving. I'll make you a deal - stop picking fights and I'll stop making you look bad.

Let us all celebrate the intellectual superiority of MW2 players.

That looks so ****ing fun! I've been missing out.

                  They are.

What is different? "The people you play against"?

Is it not a modern-day first-person shooter online?

The gameplay is the same. The details are slightly different but it's the same thing.

Look, you're getting defensive here because I'm invalidating the hours of your life that you've spent incrementing the little number next to your name in the game you play with immature children online. I get that. It makes sense to be combative to somebody telling it like it is when you don't want to hear it.

But this whole schtick of yours is getting old. Some of us have better things to do than play games designed around being addictive for the sake of being addictive. And yes, you were being extremely stupid when you said earlier that the addictive mechanics are the 'good bits' in games.

This is, fundamentally, where we split. The fun of the game needs to be the addictive part of it, not the parts of it explicitly designed to be addictive. Most of the people I've seen playing MW2 genuinely get all mad while playing the game, cursing and blaming everyone for what's happening (which is part of the joy of playing with those children on XBL, too). They don't actually enjoy it. They just feel compelled to play it.

I realize I'm talking on a level here that you won't be able to comprehend, but maybe you'll somewhat understand where I'm coming from here. I feel kinda sorry for you and people like you that feel like you're having fun playing MW2 when all you really are doing is becoming a victim to superficial addictive gameplay mechanics. And no, that's not the "good bit" of any game.

I agree with Asher. Plus when Call of Duty 7 comes out this November everybody will jump ship over to it like when everybody ditched CoD:WaW and its start from level 1 and grind for another year until Call of Duty 8 in 2011.

Whenever I hear those little kids chirping into the headset, I tell them to smoke lots of marijuana. I tell them it's what makes me so ****ing good. I consider it a public service to reach out to the next generation and tell them to get high.

I quite like MW2. I play without a headseat and turn the talking off.

If there are any other good multiplayer FPS games let me know - I'd quite like one with bots so that when I play with PH and others on split screen they have a chance of killing something.

Team Fortress is fun, but a different experience. Ditto Left 4 Dead. TF is cartoony exaggerated fun, while Left 4 Dead is more of a cooperative survival situation.

Bad Company was pure crap. Is Bad Company 2 a real improvement?

As far as bots go, you could try Unreal Tournament. It's more like Team Fortress than Modern Warfare. L4D is also good with friends. Not sure about playing any of those split screen.

                              IW continues to bleed talent:

                              More Staff Leave Infinity Ward
Three more team members confirm their departure.

Developer Infinity Ward has lost additional team members today.

Long-time programmer Jon Shiring confirmed to IGN he has resigned from his position at the studio. Shiring made his initial announcement through his Twitter account. Shiring did not give a reason for his resignation or where he'll end up next.

"I'm not trying to create spectacle, I just wanted to avoid the LinkedIn nonsense," he told IGN. "No announcements other than that one." Shiring spent close to six years at Infinity Ward, working on both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2.

Senior Animator Bruce Ferriz confirmed to IGN he, too, left the studio this month and has now joined Santa Monica-based developer Big Red Button Entertainment. He is currently working on an unannounced project. Ferriz spent just over one year at Infinity Ward.

Lastly, Modern Warfare 2 lead designer Mackey McCandlish has also reportedly left Infinity Ward. According to Kotaku, McCandlish notified his colleagues through Facebook of his decision to leave the studio. McCandlish had been at Infinity Ward since 2002. McCandlish confirmed his departure on his Twitter account.

Earlier this month, Infinity Ward veterans Todd Alderman and Francesco Gigliotti also revealed through LinkedIn the two had left the studio.

In March, Infinity Ward co-founders Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired by publisher Activision. The two announced this morning plans to open a new studio called Respawn Entertainment and signed a new publishing deal with rival Electronic Arts.

Infinity Ward staff exodus continues, 4 more leave studio
By Andrew Webster | Last updated about 2 hours ago

The drama at Infinity Ward continues, as reports abound about even more staff leaving the studio. These reports arrive just a day after reports came in that several key staff members left the studio behind Modern Warfare 2, following the lead of former studio heads Jason West and Vince Zampella.

The news comes via Kotaku, who reports that four more staff members have left IW. These include MW2 lead designers Steve Fukuda and Zied Reike, programmer Rayme Vinson, and artist Chris Cherubini. Both Fukuda and Reike have been with the studio since 2002.

Not including West and Zampella, this brings the current total number of resignations to around 10, or about 10 percent of the studio. As of now, none of the ex-IW staffers—aside from former animator Bruce Ferriz, who told IGN he has joined Big Red Button Entertainment—have revealed their future plans, but it seems pretty likely that at least a few will end up at West and Zampella's brand new Respawn Entertainment.
