Do you have refining skill goals? (Desn't sound like it, since you said mining is boring)
You need to define goals and work towards goals. Missioning for the sake of missioning with no plan will get you know where fast and could close a lot of doors in the future to you.
For instance, I did so much Fac War Stuff and got a huge Gallente Faction Boost that Ill NEVER being able to do Serpentis Pirate Faction Missions again, even with diplo V.
But what do I know, I spend to much time watching TV while playing, just ask Spikey
