http://www.quakelive.com is now in Open Beta so anyone can join in in the carnage. I recommend it for anyone who is a fan of action/deathmatch based FPS. In a nutshell it is very similar to Q3 but I think it has some significant changes which make it a lot more fun. Weapons such as a rail/LG are substantially weaker. I've been in beta for over 6 months now and there is a huge amount of players playing currently. So, what are you waiting for?

I'm not surprised this is so popular - Q3 is the finest DM and TDM game ever and this is basically the same game as far as I can see.
I still fire up Q3 for a few frags every now and again - there are still players even after all these years. I guess most people will switch to this now though.

i was actually thinking about making this thread. just started playing as soon as it went open beta. its suprisingly good. didn't expect much for a web browser game.
i def suck from longtime not playing. brain is still willing but my aim just says no. I still have edge over most players in knowing what to do in certain situations, but I can't go toe to toe in pure reflex anymore.:-p

Stil, I reckon I could pick it up again pretty fast if I find time to play this.

It is as responsive as Q3, you really can't tell any difference, nor do I think there is one. The netcode is better than Q3 but not quite as good as CPMA yet(arQon is now a dev for id). I'm mainly interested to see if it becomes popular or not. I know myself and some friends are very into it.Eschewing obfuscation and transcending conformity since 1982. Embrace the flux.
