So, Snoopy and I played a few rounds of XWA last night. It was good fun. First game was just A Wings and X Wings vs. TIE/Fs and TIE/Bs.

Second game was a small cap ship on each side and the fighters trying to take out the other cap ship with torpedoes.

Third game was even bigger cap ships on both sides. A Calamari Cruiser on the Rebs plus Assault Frigate, and an Imperial Star Destroyer and an ESC on the Imps side. We prevailed in each game.


We also proved that if you destroy a Star Destroyer's testic spherical shield generators, it does indeed drop the shield strength to zero.


Maybe something to keep in mind before we take on an SSD!

IIRC a SSD has a ton of shield generators (4, 6, something like that). Rather more than a load of HR's

We also proved that I mostly suck at XW/TFA ... have to get my space legs back

When each mission was over, I'd cycle through the craft and find Snoopy and then switch to warheads and target him. When the lock engaged to red, I'd watch to see if he'd go loopy trying to evade the lock.

He never did.


I also flew around in a reckless and unprofessional manner and accidentally rammed Snoopy from behind. That was a little surprising too.

Sorry to hear [or recall, I think I knew that from before] of your unfortunate circumstances... someday you'll be off on your own and able to MP whenever you want

Woah! I'd love to do some MP Xwing Alliance. Be forewarned that I suck though. I tried on some generic server once and got all sorts of abuse from the l33t crowd.

XWA! Wow.. a throwback to the beginning of PC gaming for me (the whole X-Wing/TIE Fighter series actually). :sigh:

Yeah, I remember entering a cheat code where you could actually pilot a Super Star Destroyer. That thing couldn't turn for crap, but it sure had a lot of firepower

Piloting a SSD would be a lot of fun if you could target all of its guns.

Heck, just being one of the gunners... or the Death Star's gunner ...
