It's not as emotionally deep as other games on the market, it's not a 30 hour + epic and it's not art in video game form, but is arguably the greatest action game ever created. In a year full of incredible games, Gears of War 2 sits triumphantly at the very top.

TeamXbox: 98/100

All of the multiplayer, both co-op and competitive, completely makes up for any that was lacking in the first game. For those that thought that Gears just wasn’t suited to multiplayer gameplay, that it was too tactical and slow and was better suited to a single player experience, prepare to eat your words. It’s fantastic, and rounds out the complete package that is Gears of War 2...Gears of War 2 is about as close as you can get to the perfect gaming package.

Computer and Video Games: 93/100

Gears of War 2 helps to change the perception of the 'angry space marine' shooter by thanks to a compelling story at its core. There are points in Gears of War 2's ridiculous and explosive Brumack set-pieces that you'll wonder how you'll ever be able to go back to the original game without being under-whelmed.

EuroGamer: 90/100

The real star, however, is Horde, a ballistic assault on your worst score-rush tendencies that transforms maps into Gears-flavoured Mutant Storm: weapons spawn, then a wave of enemies hits, then more weapons and then another, tougher, wave.

I knew the review embargo was being released today and suspected this thread would be here when I got in.

I'll look through the reviews later - I just want to launch a pre-emptive strike and say that all console reviews are biased, and teh marketing deludes people into playing bad games, and there's nothing new in the game. Also, it sucks.

It can't be a great game based on the fact there is no PC version.

Making for XBox only is cheating and any score it receives is automatically penalized with a 20% deduction.

It sounds logical because it is.

been following the dev threads for this on gamasutra and it sounds like they made many improvements.

Still, personally it's not my cup of tea(I like earl grey rather than PG tips ) but for console fans of this kind of game who liked the first i'm sure it's a very good game, hyped reviews notwithstanding

Will it still be being played in 6 months? Anyone still playing the original?

As you can see, your point has backfired spectacularly. Gears of War still has millions of games played weekly, years after its release.

Sadly i dont play Live, it means i avoid having to meet people like you in my games, and to be frank most console games struggle to keep my attention without that extra kick in the balls

But glad many people still enjoy it - it looks good for fans of this game that part 2 is an even better game. Well done Epic Games, it's hard to follow up on a well recieved game.
