  • Spore Patch Available

EA/Maxis have released a Spore patch to address numerous bugs, issues and requests that have been made since release. The features of the patch are:

    - New Cheat: "evoadvantage". Enter this cheat when are starting a new Creature game to choose any creature from the Sporepedia. Start a new game with one of your more evolved creatures!
    - Display part statistics when you are in Build mode. Rollover any part and hold down the 'i' key.
    - New Cheat: "blocksmode". Turns creatures into their blocky representations.
    - More style filters. Open the cheat window and type: "stylefilter -microscope" or "stylefilter -norainbows" or "stylefilter -nextgen" to see the new styles
    - Added 70 new planet scripts with a low terraform score, especially of the "hot and high atmosphere" type

You can obtain the patch via EA Download Manager (visit the Spore patch page to obtain it if required).

A direct download method is not available as yet, and there is no mention in the patch notes of the promised DRM changes. You can view the full patch notes and get the EADM from www.spore.com.

This is the most obnoxious patching scheme I've ever encountered. I've spent the last half hour waiting on it to install, and it's still going. If I didn't have the Task Manager open showing me that it's running I might think my laptop had locked up. I don't enjoy seeing 0% for longer than a few seconds, much less 30 minutes...

Oh, and they lied about using the EADM. You have to load the game first. My EADM had a big empty space in it where the patch should have been listed.

Edit: Just finished after 35 minutes. Christ that was obnoxious.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

Just remember how long it took to install the full game.

Also, I bet there's a "Call EA home" routine in the patch install to to re-validate the serial.

I would rather have less bugs than more cheats. Why cheat in a game anyway, just play on an easier level if you think it's too hard?

            ???

What do you mean? I haven't installed the patch yet, but to install the game took only a few minutes.

I've installed the patch, and now there's so many editor pieces which don't show!

For example, I had some clothing decide to be invisible, then in the vehicle editor I had some economic pieces like the purple gem hood ornament and the green shield thing decide to be invisible.

              This is crap!
