How can you be posting from Texas? Texas was destroyed by Ike.

Spikey, I posted it here cause, well, it would be real silly to post "guess what I bought" in a Civ4 forum, now wouldn't it?

I paid $30 for it. (I got it at Best Buy cause we had a gift card there I wanted to use up) First time in a long time I paid that much for one game.
Its GOTY edition. No xpack, I didn't think the extra $10 to get Warlords as well was worth it.
Its the most modern PC game I have ever obtained, as its a 2005 release. If I'm going to enter the modern age, I can't skip Civ.
Its the first time, I think that I've skipped a game in a series. From what I understand, skipping Civ3 made sense for me.
I will of course be spending more time in the Civ4 forums, I expect.

Yeah, not sure why you didn't get Complete. It's £16 here, which is less than $30.
All you really need is Vanilla + BtS as you get all the stuff from Warlords except the scenarios anyway. But here that costs more than/same as Complete anyway.
Ive hardly even seen complete in the brick and mortar retailers, and Im pretty sure when I did it wasnt a big savings over BtS seperately.

30 dollars for just the original Civ4 with no expansions? Sounds expensive. Anyway you should have shelled out a bit more for BtS, it's IMO the only Civ expansion to date that is a must-have if you like the original game.

I swear, Ive looked both online and in brick and mortar. at most it might be a tad cheaper at some online stores, but thats offset by the shipping charge. For Gold edition, including warlords, its $40.
Civ4 complete seems to be running at $50, while BTS alone is $20, so unless you put value on Warlords, theres no real reason to get Complete. Plus, theres always the chance BTS will fall in price before I tire of Vanilla. Or the tiny chance that I will suddenly decide I MUST drop Civ4 to play Spore, or buy a 360, or whatever.

Still seems weird enough to me, it's not like you have a shortage of online or physical stores in the US. At least UK's Amazon sells complete for 16 pounds.
Anyhow, if you find that you generally like Civ4, you should seriously consider BtS later.

The new bugs BtS introduces are particularly endearing.
