  • This game is kind of gay

Will Wright is not going after just women with this one. The game definitely has a certain gayness about it and I would posit is designed to seduce/attract the homosexual crowd. There is no real gameplay here, you just move your gay little fish around, and the game has all these pink colors, and tries to be cute. But it is not just appealing to effeminate people, but also people who play civ, who are almost entirely male. So in summation I think this game will be popular in the gay community, like The Killers or George Clooney.

Mmm, golden showers from Will Wright...
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.

      Ooookay then... That was random...

      You do realise that:
      1. If you had to pick one colour to describe Spore it would be blue (the whole of the main interface is BLUE, for goodness sake).
      2. Meat is usually represented as pink regardless of sexual orientation, so therefore the meat in this game is pink. Industry standard does not mean pro (or anti) gay.
      3. Have you actually finished the Cell stage yet and progressed in the game at all?

In "the making" DVD the artists talk about how the planet colour palette affects everything. So did you pick a pink planet to start with?

My last game I picked an earth-like planet and the whole colour palette was very blue-green.

I have only played the cell stage and the screen was bathed in pink. I will restart later and pick a better, more straight colored planet per your advice. As an aside, it is hi-larious they have 0% positive reviews on Amazon for this game because of the DRM, which did exactly squat to protect them from pirates.

One thing you need to remember about Cell phase is that it maps the progression of life from volcanic, meteor strewn chaos, through deep oceans, to shallow beaches. The water colour changes due to that too. So at the start it's a washed out volcanic red water, then progresses to a very deep blue, then in lightening shades to sunlight bathed beachwater.

So it's right up your alley.
