  • Majestic Studios blatantly steals assets from Oblivion, Diablo 2, Silent Hill, ...

This is just amazingly blatant. They have literally taken the assets from other games and used them:

This one is sure to cause quite a stir. This one could turn into quite a bit of trouble, but Majestic Studios title Limbo of the Lost has been reviewed by gaming site GamePlasma, and they claim that it has stolen some of the level design structures from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Eric...

click through to the thread for the screenshots (won't work hotlinked).

Apparently the US Distributor has halted selling the game in the US before it even hit shelves.

The trailers are also some of the worst I've ever seen:

The list of games so far that they've stolen assets (or at least blatantly ripped off as close as possible): Diablo II, Painkiller, Unreal Tournament 2003, Unreal Tournament 2004, Thief: Deadly Shadows, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Silent Hill 4 and scenes from the 1997 film Spawn.

How do you know they were stolen and not licensed?

Because Bethesda has never seen this before and has dispatched their legal team.

GameWatcher is a website that provides news, reviews, and guides for video games. We cover the latest games and provide in-depth analysis of them.

Bethesda doesn't want to comment on the recent reports of Limbo of the Lost robbing level designs from Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but Danielle Woodyatt, PR Representative for Bethesda, did tell us that the Legal team is looking into it.

“We aren't going to comment. Screens pretty much speak for themselves. Legal is looking into it.” said Woodyatt.

It's clear to me that the dev "team" was probably a couple guys who bilked a whole bunch of venture capital guys out of their money for the game while doing no work. When "milestones" were needed to show progress they just stole **** randomly.

It looks like all they robbed was level designs. Imitating a handful of levels is not the same as stealing tons of actual assets wholesale.

They stole the level design, the textures, the models. The assets.

They did not imitate the levels, Wiglaf. They took them. They literally took the data files from the PC games and incorporated them into their own game.

Asset creation is actually very time consuming and expensive.

                Ahahahahha!

                *wipes tears from his eyes*

Look at this picture from their wikipedia entry.....

They stole the boxes of Diablo and Oblivision, put them over each other and put their own title on it with a piece of duct tape.....

Just so it's clear, that's vandalism (but awesome vandalism).

This cannot be real. If it is, Majestic Studios has gone off the charts in being the best, most badass game developer on the planet.

The best part is the game has been in development for over 10 years.

If we knew this was not actually a real game, it would of made a terrific fraud.

Reading articles about it..... they all list various games it stole from. They all missed Baldurs Gate 1! The opening of the book in the first video in the OP, is from the intro of Baldurs Gate 1.

In all seriousness, here's hoping to a quick demise for this game and its makers
