Well I think I decided on a DS.
I was thinking games along the lines of Advanced Wars, Front Mission, Drone Tactics, and Final Fantasy. Maybe Ace Attorney.
You might want to check out the Age of Empires TBS too, no Advance Wars, but it's not bad either.
There's also a Daisenryaku (famous TBS series like Panzer General) game out only in Japan, I can't be bothered to learn the menus so I'm waiting/hoping for an English version.Call to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

AW maps in general tend to hinge on doing/building one or two things, if you spot it early enough then the whole map swings around to an easy S-rank win. If not then you get drawn into a fight and end up having to build a bunch of units that ruins your rank.Originally posted by Apocalypse
