At release, a top of the line computer could barely play Crysis. Now, you merely need a high-end computer to play it.

Please Kuci. I bought the game on release, I barely had a top of the line computer, and could run it on full settings with little to no problem.

Crytek knew from the beginning this game would require a poweful computer. They knew their market was narrowed because of it.

It does seem their expectations on PC sales is a bit too optimistic. But all in all, I am glad this guy announced what he said, it will hopefully wake up pure PC game players and buy the damn game.

Bull****. I did too (overclocked C2D, dual 8800s), and I could not run the demo even at less than full settings (1680x1050, everything at "high") with a decent, consistent framerate (it would hit < 5fps near foliage).

IIRC you played it at 1024x768 or some other bull****.

Right now, I have Photoshop and Dreamweaver open, plus the Crysis Sandbox2 Editor with a full level open, which is worse than having the game loaded properly.

It is on Very High right now, and I have no problems.

          Resolution is currently 1440x900

of course, AA must be turned off.

            I call bull**** as well:

            Quad core Core 2 @ 3GHz
            8800 Ultra
            4GB RAM
            Vista (DX10 mode)

turned it up to max on 1440x900, frequently dipped into slideshow territory.

FrostyBoy is delusional if he thinks Crysis has no performance problems. The devs of Crysis are pretty incompetent when it comes to efficiency. They may think they're awesome 'cause of all of the graphical features their engines have, but the hard part is never implementing those features...it's implementing them well and efficiently, something Crytek has never been good at.

Or there is much less piracy on consoles compared to PCs.

Absolutely, but since it's also available on PC (presumably) after this, unless they do the trendy console-first, PC-later approach it won't make that big of a difference.

The main limiter is their crappy coding requires massive PCs to run properly.

Wouldn't it still be a trick to put that engine on a 360?

That's not full settings then, is it? With no AA the game looks like ****, just like everything else.

I expect that he's not meaning that PC piracy will stop, just that if they make their next game for PC, PS3, and X360, they'll sell enough copies for the consoles (where they are very difficult to pirate) to make up for the money lost on the PC versions.

The news story I just saw basically came out and said Crysis wasn't going to be ported to consoles.
When asked if this meant that the rumours of Crysis coming to consoles were correct, Yerli simply stated that the port would be "impossible," saying that the game would have to be, "largely changed to bring it to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3," and that Crytek's, "internal focus is not linked to bring Crysis to consoles."

They can't do it, they'll have to get help.

The 360 and PS3 are far less forgiving of crap code than the PC is.

Would you put it past these guys to release a game that actually runs poorly on a console as well?
