So...have you ever wanted to run your own crime family? Then Mafia Sim might be the game for you!
Turn-based multiplayer game set during the Prohibition period of the 1920s. All you need is an internet browser with Macromedia Flash Player installed.
Recruit gangsters and send them out to extort the neighborhood. Then once you've taken over a few blocks, put them to work collecting protection money or running the rackets: bookmaking, bootlegging, and narcotics. Or maybe why not hijack a cargo or two...or three or four!
Some of your actions will earn you Respect points. When you accumulate enough, you move to the next experience level and are awarded with skill bonuses you can distribute to yourself or your hoods.
Hire lawyers to protect your thugs from the law. Hire accountants to make sure your ill-gotten loot is all nice and legal when the IRS comes knocking. Bribe cops to look the other way. Pay off judges to rule in your favor if the case goes to trial.
Inevitably there will be conflict with rival gang leaders. Organize your gangsters into hit teams and send them out to eliminate enemy personnel. Join La Cosa Nostra and rise through the ranks from Street Gang to Crime Family. But don't forget to give the Commission a piece of the action. And stay away from narcotics--the penalty is death! Who knows, maybe you'll become powerful enough to earn a seat on the Commission.
The game is free but you can purchase a premium membership which gives you additional privileges. For example there are 8 different cities to operate in, varying by size and difficulty. A premium account allows you to operate in multiple cities as well as being able to choose your home city. Otherwise you can only play in Sante Fe (the easiest)--at least that's the way it was in Round 14. Also a premium account entitles you to put contracts out on other players.
Obviously there's a whole lot more to this than I've described. Fortunately there's an extensive help manual plus 4 movie tutorials. The tutorials will give you a good idea what the game interface looks like. All you need is Macromedia Flash Player installed to view them.
