Madden 2005 PS2\PC

I got madden 2005 for the PS2,choosing it over more recent titles based on bad rumors about post 2005 madden games going downhill. I love it Now im looking to pick it up also for the PC. If there are any better titles out there, i would consider picking them instead. I value gameplay and dont care about graphics.

Cons so far;Rushing. I just get stuffed every time. I always end up passing to compensate for the running game. Same thing for opposing teams;my franchise team gives less than 25-50ish yards rushing per game, in one game they allowed negative total rushing yards. (it was going to end 51-0 but they returned a fumble for 85 yards in the last minute ) Heck ive used the quarter package against weak teams and still gotten tackles behind the line. Seems unbalanced to me. Do you just keep using rushes over and over until they work?

NFL 2K series was far better.

I looked at that but couldnt find it for the PC?

That's because it wasn't made for the PC, 2KSports hasn't made any of their games for the PC iirc.

I like the reviews on NFL 2k though. Think ill pick it up later

For now though, i want something for PC, so i went ahead and ordered madden. Also got a new gamepad. Ill enjoy the inferiority

There's some tweaks you need to make to the game to get it to accurately simulate how the game would play out.

I'll see if I can't track down what they were...

On the substitutions....

You may think that's a little high, but really it's not. Most of the time when I tested these running backs would be out after 3 consecutive carries, which is pretty realistic. A few times they stayed in for four or five carries, but if you don't mind about giving one RB all the carries you should lower this to around 82/87.

This is for an All madden level play.

But, essentially, IIRC sliders default at 10, then you click them left or right from there.

If running is too hard for you, turn up run blocking and run ability.

I'm wondering if you are trying to run gimmicks or tosses, though. Try running an I formation couter, dive, or off tackle play. Then watch the defense. If they switch the linebackers to the side you are running to, audible the play to the other side. If they bring up a safety on the side you are going to, move the WR on that side of the field in motion, and break the run wide to that side.

Virtually guaranteed 3-5 yard gain with any RB and potential to bust big with good RBs.

NFL 2K is better than Madden. Has been for about 4 years now.
