  • Civ On Other Platforms

yes I know this is not the right forum for this but the right forum is so slow that there this would not get any responses. but if this needs to be moved then move it.

this thread got me thinking: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=174641
Civ on other platforms? to what platforms, other than PC, Civ has been ported to? IIRC I've heard about PlayStation port, but any other?

There were console ports before, but Civ Rev or whatever they're calling it looks like it's designed from the ground up for consoles.

There was a (rather irritating) SNES port for Civ, and wikipedia says Civ2 appeared on the PS as well.

And yes, I also began to play Civ on the Amiga

There was a version released only in Japan for the Sega Saturn called "Civilization ~Shin Sekai Shichi Dai Bunmei~"(don't know what it means). I played it for a while but the map scrolling was kind of slow. It came with a neat little tech tree in the manual though

Here's a video of the intro (dull): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejCYZ_33BhQ

I played Civ on the Amiga (where has the Civ forum gone by the way?), then rediscovered its glory with Civ 2 on the Playstation, before finally succumbing to the inevitable and getting a proper computer that could handle the true glory fo Civ 2!

I've also got Civ 3, and CtP, but Civ 2 gold is the finest of games still. Just wish I could get Pirates for PC legally, because I spent many hours playing that at my (sad) St-owning mate's house when I was wee-er.

Oh yeah, I've also got Col for PC (the oldest possible edition, and virtually unplayable because it screws my display, but FreeCol is the same game and has none of those problems).

Ordered this one once... I feel they tricked me It was a very basic civ 1 game with a very limited tech tree, one map and if you met someone, it was instant war. Of course, I didn't belive it was nearly as advanced and good as Civ3 but this was pure fraud
