They thow out a great name by comparing the space modus to starflight 2.
If it really resembles SF2 in many aspects I will definitely love this stage of the game.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

Ehm.... Proteus could you perhaps elaborate on that. I never played Starflight.Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

You should definitely try to get it then,
I think Abandonware sites might have it.
So to give you a brief overview about Starflight I+II:
You were flying in a single spaceship acros the universe, for one to solve the ridle of exploding stars, for the other, to get money so you could train your 5 men crew (which you could mix out of different alien races), coulds buy fuel and and equip your spaceship with betetr engines/weapons etc.
During your flights you would enter star systems along with a different number of planets (which seemed to be rather corect, i.e. with hot planets close to the star and cooler at a far away orbit) and could scan and land on those planets if the physical conditions permited it (with being able to select your landing site on an orbital view) to search the huge surface of the planet for minerals, trade with alien cultures or try to capture specimens of alien (non sentient) animals and plants (which could be hazardous, as these species might possess natural weapons, but would give you money if you sold them) .
Sometimes you would even encounter ancient alien ruins, in which you might finds clus to the riddle of the exploding stars, ancient artifacts, or other things (you coul also land on the now dead earth and find out about the last days of the terrans )
Oh aside from this you might also (friendly or hostile) encounter other spacefaring species, from the peace loving and treelike Elowan, to the hostile and amoeba like Spemin and (in Starflight 2) might even be able to make a travel back in time and see the secotr several thousand years ago.
The graphics might now be a bit outdated, but aside from this the game IMHO is still great
If the space stage of Spore captures a little bit (or maybe even more) of the magic of SF2, that would definitely be a great thingTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

around 1990 or so, therefore don´t expect too much in terms of graphics.
I assume you would have to use XP as it has to be run in DOS.
Alternatively I would recommend to try to get the Amiga version and run it in an Amiga Emulator. The Amiga version to my knowledge had a little bit better graphics than the PC version.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air.
