Rumor: New Leisure Suit Larry Game In Production
By Chris Kohler EmailNovember 27, 2007 | 5:12:24 PMCategories: Console Games

Could Sierra be taking another crack at resurrecting Leisure Suit Larry? A few people listening to the Howard Stern radio show today say that comedian Artie Lange mentioned on the air that he just finished recording some dialogue for a new Leisure Suit Larry game.

Apparently Lange will play a character named "Big Al."

We've known for a while that Sierra was bringing the seventh Larry game, Love For Sail, to mobile phones. But this would seem to indicate a brand-new Larry game for consoles and/or PC.

With any luck, they'll look to the success of Sam & Max as a reason to make a classic point-and-click adventure and not a slapdash collection of awful mini-games that dragged Larry's good name through the mud, like some other attempts to revive the series that I could name.

If true, then a big .

Would certainly be a welcome addition to the Wii.

But for me Larry is more of a PC game, so I'd like even more to have it there. Still, an interesting thought.

But the big question is: Is Al Lowe involved?
He hasn't mentioned anything in his daily mail (which he did back when rumors of the last "Larry" game was released). Also considering that he's working on his own action-comedy-adventure it doesn't sound like he's working on it

Anybody read any news about that new Al Lowe game? AFAIK no news has been released since the game was revealed... when was that? A year ago? A year and a half?

Well, you don't really need to stretch your imagination too far to think of some uses of, say, the rumble capability.

I really hope this is true, I miss the old games.

I have a good feeling Al is working on this one, he gets so many requests from people around the world to do another LSL, and they demand Sierra to employ him to do it (because only he can do it right).

                    Unfortunately that's not the case

                    [q=Al Lowe]
Many of you have written to tell me about hearing Artie Lange on the Howard Stern show yesterday state that he'd recorded some voiceovers for "a new Leisure Suit Larry game." Many of you asked if I was involved. I regret to say the answer is no. Yesterday was the first I heard of it and all I know is what's online. I guess we'll all find out together.

                        Typical.

The game will no doubt suck.

Sierra management can be really sometimes.

The new Larry game has been officially announced.

Leisure Suit Larry Does Hollywood With New Comedic Adventure Video Game in 2008

Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust Features the Voice Talents of Allen Covert, Jay Mohr, Dave Attell, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Electra and Many More

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 17 -- Sierra Entertainment, a division of Vivendi Games, announced today that the lovable loser, Leisure Suit Larry, is back in an all new side-splitting, pants-busting adventure game, coming to Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION(R)3 computer entertainment system, PC and mobile phones this fall.

The Leisure Suit Larry(R) Box Office Bust video game gives gamers an all-access pass to the glitz, glamour and gorgeous women of Tinseltown. In this 3rd person adventure game, Larry takes a summer job working on his uncle Larry's movie lot doing odd jobs and trying to uncover a mole from another studio who threatens to air the studio's dirty laundry in the tabloids.

Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust is a rollicking, innuendo-laden lampoon of Hollywood that features open world sand box game play that includes exploration, platforming, racing and puzzle-solving to complete missions. Additionally, the game will feature an all-new Directors Game that allows the player to create their very own "Larry Feature."

True to form, Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust will feature sophomoric comedy and bombshell babes thanks to the writing talents of Allen Covert (Happy Madison Productions) and an All-Star cast of actors and actresses, including Jay Mohr (Last Comic Standing), Dave Attell (Insomniac), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie), Carmen Electra (Starsky and Hutch), Artie Lange (Mad TV), Patrick Warburton (Family Guy), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Nikki Cox (Las Vegas), Peter Graves (Mission Impossible), Jane Lynch (The 40 Year Old Virgin) and Josh Keaton (The Spectacular Spider-Man) as the voice of Larry Loveage.

"Leisure Suit Larry is an entertaining adventure that places gamers in the middle of Hollywood's tabloid-filled mayhem to create a fun gaming experience," said Al Simone, senior vice president of Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "The collaborative efforts of Allen Covert and cast make this the most amusing and immersive Leisure Suit Larry video game yet."

The Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust video game is being developed by Team 17 and will be rated "M" for Mature. Vivendi Games Mobile is also making Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust available for mobile phones throughout Europe and North America. Their website doesn't seem to work yet, btw...

They did make a remake of Lemmings 1, AFAIK it was only a graphical update to the old classic

But the question is: Will this be more like the classic adventure games or like the last Larry game? Based on the above article it sounds like it'll be more like the last Larry game (a bunch of mini-games with some comedy)

While the comedy was nice (not great, but nice) the mini-games got quite boring

I don't know... I love the worms, but I wouldn't trust a company with no prior adventure game experience to come up with anything worthwhile. Plus, Sierra sucks.

So, my expectations are pretty low, although I hope for the best.
