  • Should I get EU3 NA?

Should I get Europa Universalis III+XP?

    Too few Events
    Otherwise yes.

Absolutely yes. The speed is enormously better. More modding tools. Better and more automation and more features. Do install the mod Magna Mundi btw, it was good under vanilla EU3 and with the increased speed and better modding tools it has made EU3 a new game.

Is it good for NA? And does it add more events? Is there an event pack available anywhere?

Magna Mundi is much better under NA, as the new modding tools have made it possible for the modders to make the game even more as they want. They have changed exploration, trade, the HRE system, the religion system, and so on. And they have added loads of events.

I think I'm going to buy this.

BTW Is the Mulitplayer system of EU3 any good? (this is of secondary importance)

A good choice IMHO. NA must be bought on GamersGate, PI's download service(if you didn't know already). It's no problem though, in my opinion it's the best download service on the net.

As for MP, I don't know. I do know that all PI games tend to have a healthy MP participation, but for some of their games that's in spite of the MP quality. I do not play MP myself so I honestly don't know. What I do know is that it was announced to have vastly improved MP, but that's their words after all.

EU3 was a lot of fun. It got the least play of the series for me though. I'd rather have a little longer break between EU2 and 3. I didn't have the overwhelming desire to play that game again.

One word of warning - if you want to play EU3 you do need a fairly decent graphics card, something well above the minimum required for the game. It was painfully slow on the 6600 128MB in my last computer and I haven't tried it with the 7300GT in the new PC, although that should run at a decent turn speed.

EU3 is like Civ4 to me: It looks good, theoretically, but somehow I can't get myself into playing it. I bought both games as soon as they came out, and I played the predecessors of both excessively and loved them. I didn't buy the XP for EU3, though, but I bought both Civ4 expansions.

Any card with 128 MB and Pixelshader 2.0 will do, which will say any card never than six years, except Intel graphics. A better card will help mich though, as much of the calculations going on in the background(and in a game like EU3 that's a lot) can be done by the card to help the processor. But with NA, as said, the game is much faster. My laptop went from a few minutes a year to somewhere around a minute after upgrading to NA.
