  • MOH Airborne - anyone else played it?

    Started a couple of days ago. First impressions are fairly good. The AI characters do seem to react to what is going on rather than follow set routines so that is living up to the billing.

    The airdrop at the start of each section is a bit gimmicky but adds flavour - at least I think that's the description for being chased by a Tiger tank whilst frantically trying to find the recoilless rifle at the start of the third scenario.

    Weapons are much the same at the previous offering - Pacific Assault - but the graphics are better and so is the layout. Instead of following a set path you get to run around a large area and carry out the tasks in more or less the order you want - so some replay value as you can try different approaches.

    I don't think it is worth the full price - but then I never buy full price games, except Civ - but if you come across a discounted copy and like this sort of thing it's not bad.

    Anyone else tried this game?

    I followed this on the Xbox - it got mediocre reviews and there's just too many great games out there at the moment to spend time on this.

      This is why I "acquired" it on the PC for play at a later date.

        Its too short Also there is no real penality for dying which is quite strange. You only loose any progress in weapon skill earned since the last Checkpoint.

        Besides this Issue the Game is quite fun although is has nilch replay value after unlocking all weapons.
        Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

                  Yeah - extra achievement points if you are willing to bear the risk of electric shocks if you suck. A new hardcore mode for a new age.

                      I wonder what that is as a percent of the user base, though. Not trivial, I suspect.

                          they should play what interests them of course. Sometimes its fun to RP being an 11th century Norman-Italian duke trying to claim the throne of Naples, sometimes its fun to RP being a physicist in an underground govt research lab where something terrible has just happened, and sometimes it fun to RP being a single guy trying woo the gal next door while advancing in his career as a "hacker" and buying art works. ALL can be satisfactorily played by folks who have little or no interested in being "competitive" or gaining satisfaction from difficulty. And Im sure all of them are. And all can be made to be more difficult - some more easily within the rules, some with more or less arbitary limits on what one can do.

                          I think criticizing SP FPS for enabling cost free reload is silly. These are only games, and the folks looking for serious challenges play them MP, IIUC.
