I played PG2 already. Played through, one campaign, I forget which, the German I think, and started either the US or British. Its packed in a box somewhere.

SimAnt is not really a sim game. It's almost an RTS, sort of, but not really either.

Anyway its too late. Ive already ordered Crusader Kings from Amazon.

In order to spread the shipping fee, I also ordered Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, despite my caveat in the OP. Unfortunately the Amazon store that had CK cheap, didnt have any of the other game on my list.

Don't play CK expecting EU2. It's overall a much more simple game, except in the build a family dynasty stakes - thats the best bit of the game.

Also get Xcom - get the gold version from here:

I've bought the original 3 times(1x amiga, 2x PC(lost one copy)), so if your soul is worried about it i'll give you one of those 'lives' - I tend to like to buy a game myself also, to support the making of more. Anyway I play with this version as it's been fixed to like windows.

While the mechanics are similar, I liked the "feel" of 1 a lot more than 2. FWIW.

I agree, I thought PG1 was much better.

Of the three Combat Mission games I played (Beyond Overlord, Barbarossa to Berlin, and Afrika Korps), I liked Barbarossa to Berlin the best.

                        17. Crusader Kings - very tempting, Ive played all the earlier Paradox games, I might not have enough Ram.

A very good game. And it's perfectly playable on a much worse computer than your budget PC. The more RAM the better, as with all PI games, but 512 is more than enough. You should consider the XP Deus Vult, which is available on PI's excellent download service GamersGate. It is plagued by a nasty crash bug right now, but aside from that it has made the game MUCH better. A patch is in the making, but so far no eta.

                        22. HOI2 - Sounds good. Will my PC manage it? Esp with Doomsday?

I only have vanilla HoI2 and neither Doomsday or the booster pack Armageddon. But both those are XPs and require no more than vanilla HoI2. It runs perfectly fine on anything CK or EU2 runs on. As usual, the more RAM the better, but 512 is more than enough.

To compare, I have played all PI games except EU3 on a 6 year old P4 2GHz, 512 MB computer. You have nothing to worry about.

I intend to, but first Ive got to enjoy CK.

Its arriving faster than I expected. I ordered Tuesday night, I got a notice from the retailer that this AM that they filled the order last night, and I got a link to the UPS tracking page, showing that it left Maspeth NY last night and has arrived in Laurel MD this afternoon, which should enable delivery on schedule tomorrow AM.

It feels like a game, this high tech order tracking stuff.

The nice thing about CK, underneath the veneer of war and conquest, I will still get to manage families, raise youth, and play with genetics. (I wont get to furnish the castle though, IIUC)
