  • I think it's a dog performance wise. It looks quite bad on medium given how fast it runs(not that fast). It has terrible item/etc pop up too compared to say Oblivion which has similar environments. I really think they just didn't optimize it right. Post-processing doesn't seem like a big FPS hit on my system but I have Q6600@3.42ghz.

UT3 has huge outdoor environments that look great but obviously it isn't packed full of little rocks and trees. Perhaps they just over did it outside - most of that tiny **** doesn't add anything but I'm sure it drains FPS. Or maybe they just had level designers with OCD rock fetishes.

    • I have a 8600GT, AMD 3000, 2gig ram at work, which I think is mid range, the game runs great on High with some of the settings down to medium; and I enjoy the game plot so far.

But as for now, I am still not yet able to judge the game as a whole until 1. I have played the game fully and with a series 9 card - the card I think it is meant to use.

Although, I read that people are able to run the game beautifully on all very high with the highest-end ATi cards; weird?

      • BTW, about motion blur. If I increase post-processing to High, Crysis starts looking good. The FPS remains fine, except during motion blur, so I disable that. Now, motion blur in Episode 2 never resulted in choppiness.

So yeah. At this point it looks like it'd be possible to optimize the engine for better performance but it's just not been done.

        • By the time I upgrade I expect this game will run well.

          • According to incrysis, a 8600GT is "fine but no great" for Crysis - crazy enough, given that it can run any other game currently out, I believe, on maxed out settings.
