AC2's gameplay was reasonably different. LOTRO is based on the same engine as AC2.

I liked LOTRO, but I had to take a break, and when I came back my freinds had quit, so I quit.

I have quit WoW again also, so just doing EVE right now.

        I see.

I was bored so I went to do a little research on the mmo's that I missed and when I came across some AC2 screenshots it looked very similar to wow, and extremely similar to lotro.

Because up until now I was buying into the "lotro ripped wow's UI" but it seems turbine had it all along.

Just talking about the UI mind you.

            Gameplay wise..

Well it's still the same pull mob and kill it thing. But some of the classes are different and alot of the skills are interesting. I couldn't stop laughing the first time I saw a minstrel fighting a mob with his lute..

I might get into trouble here, but it's "seems" guild wars-esque in the trait system. Meaning you have a bunch of traits (+vitality, +agility etc..) that you can slot via a bard in town. Only so many slots though. Gaining some of the traits can be grindy though, as to unlock them you have to kill a certain amount of critters/npcs. But it isn't too bad. And if you use a skill a certain amount of times, you gain a trait that improves that skill. Still learning all this so someone can correct me if i'm wrong.

Titles are fun, but just fluff really. Killing 30 spiders in a zone gets you the title "bob, spider killer" or some such. There's one that gives you the title "bob, the undying" if you make it to level 20 without dying. OCD players look out. There's a guy on the lotro forum that says he keeps re-starting a toon until he gets that title...ugh

One thing that I am liking quest wise for now is that there is an "epic questline". It's separate from the other quests. A continuing story line that takes you through your levels in addition to the typical kill this or that quests.

I also liked the starter elf mini zone. It almost starts off as a single player game for a short time that starts off the epic quest line. Then you go into the typical starter area stuff.

The crafting is a bit different. You choose a "vocation" instead of a craft. Each vocation has 3 crafts bundled into it. For instance a woodsman vocation is a farmer, forester and woodworker etc. The higher level craftables have what they appear to call "crit craftables"...you have a small chance when crafting something to "crit" and make a more useful version of it if you add certain things into the recipe.

Also, the crafted items seem to be very useful. Something that, i've noticed on the lotro forums, gets alot of people (raiders) up in arms.

The monster play is fun. At level 10 of a regular character you can create a max level monster (a warg, spider, orc or uruk-hai i believe). Then take him into the "pvp zone" where you fight regular players. Or take your reg. character there and fight other monter players. It isn't instanced. Just a zone dedicated to that I think. You enter, beware.

Still new as I said, and i'm not ruling out the possibility that i'm liking it just because it is a new world with enough variations on the wow mechanics.

oh and you earn dstiny points in monster play that can be used to give temporary buffs to your good guy character or upgrade your monster.

I'm gonna post this not because I think lotro beats wow or wow beats lotro, but it was funny to watch. Too early for me as I said. I agree with him alot though mostly due to the epic quest line.

I found it on the lotro forums and I just thought it was entertaining in a weird sort of way.

I like wow, i like lotro, you like other games (why else would you be here)so..... watch and enjoy.

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

I found that interesting and slightly disturbing.

                    I don't like wow, I love it

But my internet access is in serious disarray right now, making playing online games almost impossible right now. Though I am still playing wow, I'm tired of getting disconnected every 2 minutes (at it's worse).
