Something I never thought I'd say:

      Blizzard .

      (It's lucky they're making Star Craft 2!)

I thought the 25 man cap was a good idea, except that it caused my guild, and most other guilds on the server to split.

But the grinding got boring. I quit after spending yet another day on the edge of Shadowmoon Valley grinding primals, and realizing how long it was going to take me to get my leatherworking maxed. Then there was the crap about getting keyed.

But the real problem is that Blizzard basically insists on having one spec of one class being "required" to tank, and makes leveling a healer awful. Thus, there is always a shortage of healers and a massive shortage of tanks, so it's a pain in the ass trying to find an instance group if you aren't one of those. At least it was on my server.

Plus, the few BC instances I did were nowhere near as good as the original ones. I've still yet to find an instance that was as good as UBRS.

But the same thing happens as happened in the original game (although it took a lot longer then). Once you get to the level cap, you basically have to raid. And to raid, you really need to join a guild and make a substantial time commitment, especially if you are not a member of one of the favoured classes.

Gear sucks as well. There aren't enough options, especially for hunters, who basically are tied down to one set of gear in order to max out. Eventually, you just end up running an instance multiple times because you need trinket X to add +2 DPS.

PvP went downhill for me when they introduced the cross server BGs. Prior to that, there was a strong sense of cameraderie among the BGers on our realm. After that, it was playing with strangers. I never tried the arena, as I didn't really like the idea much. Plus the class balance is borked. Warlocks have been massively overpowered for over a year. The last time I entered Arathi Basin, the opposing team only had 12 players, and nine of them were undead warlocks wearing exactly the same gear. I had to laugh.

I dunno. I still think it is a great game for anyone starting out, but once you begin to come up against the game's limits, the problems become more and more glaring. At least they did for me. I know that most of my WoW friends have now quit out of frustration, but they must be getting more and more newbies, so I guess Blizzard doesn't care.

I did have some good times though. The best were the two times I solo kite killed Drakkisath in UBRS after the rest of the raid wiped. That was a rush, especially the second time, which proved it no fluke.
The new starting areas were much better than the old ones, such a bummer to have to leave them and go back to the old areas to keep going.

The primal grind definitely rivals the rep grind in terms of crafting progression (Just when you thought nothing could get any "grindier"). And having to run heroic instances as the only source of primal nethers (for the top tier craftables) is a sour cherry on top. I think it's the heroics, maybe the regulars too.

I actually thought the new instances were better because alot of them are, the ones i've run anyway, much more streamlined. But, I still can't get into running them over and over and over.

Since I don't raid it doesn't affect me, but the way they added multiple set options per tier for the hybrid classes seems a step up in terms of choosing a playstyle.

I did like the cross realm BG's. I agree about it losing the feel of a single server BG where you had common rivals etc... but those long queues had to go.

Like I said, i'll just be watching for more info on this death knight class thing to see where i'm going from here.

While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

I quit WoW a while back, as some may recall. Every now and then I get the urge to play some PvP, but never to do anything else. I never found the storyline in the Warcraft universe interesting; 99% of the gear was very cartoonish, very childish. The professions are just one example of useless, unimaginative grinding.

I doubt Blizzard is interested in making any real changes to their money maker, but maybe another company will introduce a new MMORPG that will actually try to change and improve upon the tired old formula everyone else relies on.

I quit the game a ways back as well. I didn't play for a few days because I was out of town and the addiction fell away . And then I realized I was paying $12 a month (or whatever) for something I wasn't playing.
