I suspect my fat neighbour upstairs plays Wiiiiii basketball or something, the way he crashes around like an elephant up there.

Home versions? You mean a mod? How many standard average not gamer boomers are going to know that?

I could spend weeks trying to explain to QOTM what a "mod" is, she wouldnt pay attention, she'd nod and think its cute that Im into games.

WiiFit, on the other hand, will be mentioned in the health section of the daily paper, which she actually reads. Its the kind of thing that might actually persuade her to ask that we get a Wii.

          This is sheer marketing brilliance.

Net, we didnt need no stinking net. We had monkey bars, a complex of metal bars to climb on, and if you fell, you landed on cement. Ditto if you fell off the quite high (or at least it seemed to me at the time) slide.

We were tough then, didnt have no damned tort lawyers. Some kids probably did crack their heads open, but freedom isnt free, ya know?

No, I think he means console versions, as opposed to arcade.

                Nets? Bars?

Bah, I miss the huge telephone pole with tires nailed into it for climbing at the ole school playground. Man that made for some good king of the hill fun. Tis what broke me arm. The cast just helped with the whole 'king of the hill' thing, though. UnO's got a club, watch out now!!!

Ok, but then its not real well publicized. I have a daughter who has played DDR in school, and Ive discussed here the availability of a PC version (since we dont have a console, and my daughter isnt asking for one) and I did some research on PC versions, and if I saw the thing about the calories burned, I forgot it. I doubt Ms. Mom out there, with no console in the house (kids are either out of the home, or like many girls, not gamers) is going to go researching on wiki to find that SOME DDR versions count calories. If shes even heard of DDR, it will be as a dance game, not as something related to workouts.

But WiiFit will get coverage in health mags, in womens mags, in health sections of papers. On CNN. You wait and see.

DDR has got coverage in health mags, I've seen it in my local newspaper in the health section. I'm by far no DDR expert but I think most console versions come with workout mode. And DDR already has been on CNN

It remains to be seen whether this is just a gimmick but at least they are trying to think outside the box.

Not really, ps2 had eyetoy: kinetic and the xbox had Yourself!Fitness. Integrating workouts with video games has been around for quite a while.
