  • Workout, Nintendo style

Since most of you are probably overweight, here's something that might interest you. The Wii will help you lose the lard

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

Nintendo wrapped up their E3 press conference with WiiFit, a game that will not only give players activities to get fit, but also a way to monitor their improving health. The game will ship with with the cleverly named Wii Balance Board, which gives a new method of input that can measure both weight and balance.

Seen in the video are activities like push ups, step aerobics, goalie defense and dance. Though the system had a couple of hiccups in the demo, Shigeru Miyamoto says he's more excited about this game than any other, and that should frankly be good enough for you.

does DDR come with a scale?

DDR is for teens who want to dance. WiiFit will be for boomers (and others) on health kicks. Even if its almost the same thing inside the package.

                From wiki
Many home versions of the game have a function to estimate calories burned, given a player's weight. Also, players can use "workout mode" to make a diary of calories burned playing DDR and any self-reported changes in the player's weight.
Lots of middle-aged and fat teenagers use DDR just for exercise. It is even in some high schools now to promote exercise.

...because real activities like dodgeball or any PE contact sports have been outlawed-by-proxy due to the pussification of the US.

I'm sorry Trey and Matt, but that's dumb.* The pussification began in the 80's and took off in the 90's, looong before that wretched preening gay guys show. I miss the metal playground equipment, the real swingsets, and the ginormous cargo climbing net and the son of the ginormous cargo climbing net of my youth that used to reside at Rancho San Rafael Park.

*I haven't watched South Park in years, at least not on any regular basis, so I never saw that particular gag and am taking your word for it Nostromo.
