Yes, of course there's normal people in Japan. It's still a quirky little country in a world of its own."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Nikkei Business Daily analysis finds that software houses in the Land of the Rising Sun think Nintendo's console a fad; uncertain on how to tap into expanded market.
Report: Japanese publishers doubt Wii longevity
Nikkei Business Daily analysis finds that software houses in the Land of the Rising Sun think Nintendo's console a fad; uncertain on how to tap into expanded market.
Scarcely a week goes by without Nintendo's rising stock price or record revenues being touted as evidence of the Wii's undeniable popularity. Most recently, Nintendo is predicting that its console's unparalleled demand will continue into the holiday season, leaving many would-be buyers out in the cold this Christmas. However, despite the rosy forecasts, some within the industry have come to think of the Wii as a fad, one that will fade from its mainstream popularity as quickly as it rose.
That sentiment was at the center of a report from Japan's Nikkei Business Daily [registration required] this week, in which several Japanese software publishers expressed both uncertainty as to how to best capitalize on the expanded market, and concern over the longevity of Nintendo's console.
According to the report, despite the Japanese gaming software industry sales spiking by 30 percent in 2006, nearly 90 percent of the growth in copies sold was attributable to Nintendo's in-house games. "This means sales of other software makers were practically unchanged from last year's levels," the report noted.
Elementary-school children have traditionally been the main buyers of Nintendo game systems, so says the report, and this caused many publishers to "miscalculate demand" in developing games for the Wii. With more than 70 percent of Nintendo Wii owners aged over 20, and 51 percent female, traditionally niche games have become surprisingly popular. The report specifically calls out Mario Party 8, which sold more than 830,000 units in 2006, ranking it third in the year's overall sales charts. The report cites an executive at a leading software house as saying, "I never imagined our titles could be outsold by a party game."
Wii is the next Tae-Bo?
Despite recent reports that Japan's top publishing houses are shifting their efforts to Wii development, the report claims that software purveyors are worried about the Wii's sustainability. "The Wii is like [Tae-Bo creator Billy Blanks'] Billy's Boot Camp weight-loss program on DVD. People bought it out of curiosity, and it's likely a lot of them haven't used it," said the report, quoting a major software publisher rep.
Cause for concern stems from the Wii's recent slip in Japanese console hardware charts. Wii sales were down 32 percent in August, which the report notes was the lowest sales month since December 2006, when the console launched in Japan. With 168,000 units sold, the August dip was the second consecutive month where the Wii deviated from its formerly stable sales of around 300,000 units."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. My brother bought PS3 the other day(against my advice, I'd rather have bought 360 for half the price and double the worth ). Anyway, the games look awesome, even on a non-HD TV. I did find one big letdown though: With WinAmp 5.5, you can use your computer to stream your video and music on PS3, 360 and Wii. PS3 wasn't able to play any of the movie files I tried, mostly DivX. Some files were reported corrupt(even thought I know they aren't), some as not supported. Of my music, only the mp3 was playable, FLAC crashed the whole thing and my other music formats was unplayable.
Then I came home and tried it on my Wii. I didn't have much hope, since PS3 had such problems and Wii is after all much weaker in raw power, and I thought it therefore would also be worse in format support. It's a more pure playing machine after all. But lo and behold! It played ALL of the music I tried, mp3, FLAC and everything else! And it did it pretty well too! The movie files played well too, except there were too few frames for each second for some reason. But it played every single file I tried. That's one big for Wii vs PS3! Somebody with 360 who have tried this on it and can tell how it does? At least as good as Wii I presume, although PS3's example make me wonder...Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

If you want to ask further questions about Winamp, may I suggest you do it elsewhere. This is a gaming forum. Your post is all about Winamp 5'5."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

No, it's all about the consoles' abilities. Last time I checked, this thread was about those consoles. You might not know this, but consoles these days can do more than just play games. Yeah, big surprise, I know, but that's the plain truth.Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

No, the problem is this has NOTHING to do with the console's abilities and everything to do with bugs in Winamp 5.5
All consoles can stream all media if the media server on your computer isn't buggy and/or broken.
I regularly stream DivX, MP3, AAC, WMA, etc to both my PS3 and 360. I have never tried the Wii because it's image quality is atrocious and it's not fast enough to decode MPEG-4/AVC."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Oh almighty allknowing god of Asher, how great it must be to be you, knowing all and everything, and being high up in the sky. In more than one sense. Has it ever occured to you that not everything revolves around you and that even though you know something, that doesn't mean everyone else does? Or that, lo and behold, what you think is not the Truth? In a thread on consoles, I came with my observations on two of said consoles. It's not me who have a serious problem if I post my observations in said thread, and if you disagree with me you are welcome to post that in a civil manner. And btw, it's not my fault Wii worked better than PS3 in this case. I know you don't like Wii, but you have to accept that opinions differ and that Wii actually can be better in some respects, no matter what your Highness think of the subject. Jeez...Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

I have already told you that any issues you have are specific to your media server, Winamp 5.5. I told you this is not a winamp thread.
I have NO idea what this has to do with the "Wii being better"? You're just talking absolute nonsense now. This is a software issue with winamp."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
