I must admit I'm having more fun with this game that I expected, but it also makes me sad. The more I play this game, there more I want a sequel to Dune 2
This space is empty... or is it?

When Westwood was around, their online system completely destroyed Battle.net. But over the last 7 years, EA has gradually turned the C&C online experience to crap.

The C&C RTS games still destroy anything that comes out of Blizzard though.

Destroy in what sense? We are talking MP and either SC or WC3 or both have been the mainstays of every single major gaming event since events began. That's a lot. SC nearly a decade after release is still the game of choice for WCG (with WC3 featuring too many years), and CPL & ESWC have WC3.

What about C&C games? I don't recall them being used for one large event (though bizarrely it looks like they might have bribed their way in to the upcoming WCG 2007). There's a reason for that - they are just not good enough games for serious MP competition.

I'm pretty sure I've been using infantry transports in the GDI missions so far.

Those things that you think are APCs? Not APCs/

I'm enjoying the campaign, But Company of Heroes/Dawn of War has spoiled me. This is basically Generals remix(beyond the cutscenes)

How was that game called that came out between Red Alert and Red Alert 2? Wasn't that C&C 3? Tiberian Sun I think was its name.

Looks like people are even beginning to tire of the SP gameplay as well.

Definitely a cool game, I'm enjoing yet another edition of C&C.. I still remember when the first one came out and we played it with friends via modem at midnight. Sometimes you'd have your friend calling your home line 1 o'clock at night adn your parents would answer the phone since you forgot about it.. *TSSXXX CCRHHHHRHRHRH DRRRDDRDRD*...

This game is incredibly craptastic. Faction matchups are laughably stupid.

GDI is totally designed by zealous game designers to just make it easier to steam rolling games without putting any thoughts. As a result alot of my zombie friends play GDI, but GDI has LOADS of problems in practicality when it comes to MP.

I've seen one good GDIvNOD matchup. ONE. and victory was mainly due to horrible positioning by the NOD player and semi good last min placement of towers by GDI.....
I'm hearing that the GDI players in MP are massing predators rather then mammoths.

because economy wont support a mammoth build. When you are constantly harassed by scorpions/ST/Venom, you'll be busy rebuilding, shutting down power, hunting down harassers etc.

Scrin is sort of laughed at by players at the moment. Even to a point where once it was declared Scrin just CANT win against Nod PERIOD from mere theory battle. I have seen some replays where Scrin players put a respectable good match against Nod and win, and alot of people are discovering new respect and goodies with that faction, but scrin is still just crappy race everyone shuns.

Nod has all sorts of imba problems with Scorpion rush being just too DAMN effective and having an infantry unit that cannot easily be countered by anti infantry tactic... Go youtube a video of Shadow team rush. Micro-strat like that shouldn't exist in RTS games. Ive seen many replays where mix of ST/Scorpion/Venom (sometimes not even needing venom depending on how well u contain ur opponent) combo just owning decent players left and right.

I still do enjoy it because its new, but I hate C&C game designers for once again smoking crack and overlooking gameplay liek this once again. My opinion on generals:zero hour has actually changed and have more respect for that game. At least in that game you have quite a few generals worth playing w/ only 3 being totally imba and 1 having absolutely no hope of winning.

and trust me on this... the reason i havent been posting on poly is because of this game/dota and RL. ive been playing **** out of cnc and dota lately.....
Something curious I noted about the folder structure is that all the game files are inside /1.0/ subfolders, this leads me to speculate that it may be planned to support multiple patch versions for ease of viewing older replays, which would be very nice.

With all the negative things said, yes that is one nice thing about cnc3. the game's interface for replay is VERY VERY friendly for hardcore players wishing to view matches. Commentaries can be INCLUDED with the replay. No more wc3 replay with syncing mp3 bullcrap. and you can even draw (in football plan like manner) during replay commentaries, circling units, making route lines etc. This is somethign all RTS games should adapt ASAP.
                                :-p
