Populous: The Beginning

I found this game while I was home over spring break, and installed it just the other day. It is as amazing as I remember I think it's still a better game than many modern RTS's - I give it a lot of points for elegance.

A question, though: I distinctly remember playing skirmish games against the AI. Yet, I can find no skirmish mode. Am I just misremembering?
