Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.
Thanks Asmodean, it looks good, they've got the right attitude so far. Brutal bastards in a metal suit throwing a metal ball at 100km/hr is just pure fun.

Game has been released, but so far it's unplayable, as the keyboard settings doesn't work. As default they have shoot/slide on the mouse buttons (but IMHO a game like this is keyboard only), unfortunately changing the controls that are set to use mouse buttons to keys doesn't work at all. The control settings page clearly says 'S' is bound to the action 'Shoot'/'Slide' and NOT any mouse buttons, but in game I still have to press the mouse button to shoot or slide
Yesterday I just discovered something bad about this game... very bad... Steam... I hope they don't force you to install steam to play this game MP
Edit:
Keyboard problems fixed it seems. All you had to do was to go into: E:\Games\Speedball 2 Tournament\Speedball 2\Datas\Settings\Inputs\Users\YourName.cfg
Find the lines that uses mouse buttons, which is pretty easy as near the end of the lines it says "Mse", just change that to "Key" and it should work
They haven't used the same Ice Cream sound as in the original SpeedBall 2 game, but there is one who shouts ice cream now and then
For some reason it doesn't seem like it throws the ball in the direction I want to ball to be thrown, looking straight at my team mate, presses the throw ball button, then for some reason he throws it in a different direction... of course in the direction of the enemy... Doesn't happen often, but happens
What annoys me the most is the timing it has for switching which player I have control over: I run directly towards an enemy who has the ball, gets ready to slide, then a few milliseconds before I press the button it changes to a player who's running away from the enemy... End result: I don't get the ball, the enemy continues running and the selected player is sliding away... just great
And while talking about sliding. For some reason it seems that the player often slides in a different direction than where he's headed: I run straight forward to an enemy who's running straight at me. I press the slide button, and even though none of us changes direction, my player decides that it's fun to slide to one of the sides instead
The biggest problem this game has is the interface, which is not always straight forward. Like just after a small battle it said Game Over in a small box, then 1/4th screen down there are a few buttons (save, continue, etc), but you couldn't press any of those buttons, as apparently there was a hidden Ok button just under Game Over that you had to press. Also when you have to change the keys you have to select a few things from some comboboxes. In one you have to select the player (with only one player registered, why didn't they automatically chose that player? Or how about using the player who's logged in?) And in the other one you had to chose what kind of controls to change (I only have a keyboard connected... so it should be pretty obvious which one I want to select)
But all in all, it does feel like the old classic
So far I'm having fun with the game... I probably just need some practice to figure out why it does some strange things now and then
And after a quick google image search on speedball 2 xbox version revealed only few pictures, but none of them looks like the one I was playing. Seems like they have stripped several parts of the playing field
The game I'm talking about is the game mentioned in the link in the first post. A complete remake of Speedball 2 (gameplay is so far the same), but now with better graphics and MP features
