    I want to rescue my Diablo 2 characters.

    I had a lot of fun with that game, and I want to keep my characters, but...

    I'm getting tired of it.

    I'm getting tired of having to logon and "renew" them every two months.

    If I could download them into my harddrive I would.

    If I could pay a fee to have Blizzard renew them automatically I would.

    THEY won't let me do either.

    I didn't play NWN for six months, while I was playing several other games; now I'm back into it, and I just picked up my characters where I left them and ran with them. No problems, just fun.

    I want to do that with my Diablo chars, but...

    It's a real grind, pulling them up, marching them around, putting them back.

    I'm beginning to associate them with the grind, rather than the fun.

    Now, I find I somehow missed an entire account. They're all gone.

    I hate this.

    Are there any programs out there that would allow me to copy my remaining characters onto my hard drive?

    They don't allow that I assume because of all the problems they had with hacking character data in Diablo 1. Personally, I wish they had done a Diablo MMO.

      Well as far as I remember, you CAN download them to your computer.
      But then they won't be closed Battle.net playable anymore.

      But maybe I'm wrong.

        To my knowledge, no, there are no programs to allow you to export your closed Bnet characters to your harddrive.

        Even if you managed it, you'ld never be able to get them back ON closed Bnet again.

        If that doesn't matter to you, there are a number of trainers that would let you make a new character on your harddrive and instantly level them to whatever, and place whatever equipment on them, virtually recreating your characters.

        Looks like the Phrozen Keep has been closed down, so I'm not even sure where you'ld go for mods and trainers anymore.

          Yeah, leaving BNet is exactly what I have in mind.

          Someone else clued me in on a trainer, I just have to find the time to use it.

          This has massively soured me on online-only gaming.
