  • Age of Conan : Hyborian Adventures (MMO)

Is anyone else interested in this game? I'm not a major conan fan, but I do find the whole barbarian, desolate and dangerous lands very intriguing.

Also, the one thing that WoW tend to piss me off with is the fighting system, it is very... repetitive and boring. Apparently this Conan game fixes that; according to them, you will feel each blow, and your sword will actually hit the body (or miss it).

Looking forward to it, coming out 2nd quater this year.

    It looks promising.

I do have hopes, as the combat system sounds great. However, in a skill-based combat system, responsiveness is key. How they handle latency will be a major issue.

It does sound cool, but then so do all big MMOs at this stage in development. When we get closer to open beta and there's chance for feedback on implementation of the good intentions and ideas then I'll start to get interested.

I'm looking forward to this one as well. It might be the game that drags me back into an MMO. The combat system sounds promising, but I can see how latency has the potential to be a huge issue. I also like the fact that the first 20 or so levels of player advancement are single player. You've got time to try out different things without interacting or worrying about other hostile players, and you enter the full environment with some experience and skill already under your belt.
Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Gosh this one is old but I have a legitimate reason for the necro.

Seems this have been delayed again, this time to May 20.

Funcom has slapped Age of Conan with a May 20 release date today only days after telling us it was targeting March 25 for the

I don't think the closed beta has started yet.

My gut feeling says it will suck. If it's true what I heard (I didn't read the site again), it has an Oblivionesque combat system, which may be a turn on for FPS players, but is a huge turn off for me.

My gut feeling is that it will be fun for some and not for others. Just like every other game.

Any game company that tries to push new territory in a stale genre has a thumbs up from me. Every new game whether mmo or not has just been either a copy or a revision of what came before. Yay for anything that tries to evolve with new ideas.

                    Probably will suck though.

Closed beta has been going on for some time. Pretty limited and with a strict NDA. Not in it myself, but some mates are.

Reactions have been fairly positive, but indicate that there is a ways to go. That said, it appears that the beta is running on a nearly three month old build and quite a lot has been done in the meantime.

Yes, but the proportions are up for grabs.

If the beta is running on a three month old build, that says something in itself... at least monthly builds should be made i'd think in a beta stage game, even for a MMORPG, if it's not nearly final.

A friend of mine is playing it and my SO is obsessed with collecting information on it.

It looks promising but there's a bunch of issues still. Some twits are exploiting some issues and are already L80...
