perhaps it did hinder me. I never thought of that.

But it took an unusual set of circumstances to break me out of my shell. I couldn't do it by myself. It took a certain person to help me with that. I'm still shy, but not nearly as bad as I used to be. I'm not sure what I could have done at the age of 27 or 16 to have more of a life.

      What does ISTR mean?

I did play games at a very young age, and played them obsessively through my teens. I don't really play computer games anymore. I don't even have a computer in my home. I post here when I'm checking my emails at the library and procrastinating from studying.

Maybe your problem is that due to your obsession with games during your earlier years you are now overcompensating. After all, there is none so pious as the new convert.

          I seem to recall.

Well... I'm already playing considerably less than I did 1-2 years ago, and I'm only soon 21, so who knows...

                6 to go
I'll be surely playing old games all the way thru, but I really hope I'll have transcended before the topic deadline

btw, I have played some Stars! as recently as 3 mopnths ago...

I answered "Hell yeah..." since I'm already over 50 and none of the other answers made any sense that being the case.

I suppose if I was enough over 50 some of the others may begin to gain intheir appeal though.

The first answer still makes sense.

I now have an interesting phenomenon. Before I used to daydream about women. But now that I am getting some sort of real life, I find myself daydreaming about computer games. Usually older ones.

I'm thinking computer games are my true obsession, and I should give up on women. .

the problem is the computer games I daydream about are older games that I'm bored of. The main problem seems to be they don't make great computer games anymore (civ4 being the exception).

Sometimes I'll be driving down the road, and I'll think of playing Baldur's Gate 2 or some old commodore 64 game. Weird. I've even thought about it a couple of times when talking with an attractive woman. Something is wrong with me.

My first obsession was Elite on the C64 way back in '85. I'm talking all-nighters here Then I learned about Adventures (both IF and point&click. More all-nighters... Next came Civ1 and all of us old enough to remember know what that did to real life... Civ 2 was the same.

After Civ 2 it just stopped. Civ 3 just didn't have it for me and I just can't get myself to get into Civ4.

But lo and behold, then I found Oolite, just some 6 months ago. I'm flying my Cobra all over the eight galaxies again. And this time with great graphics and some awesome player-made add-ons.

RPG's, FPS's, RTS's and what have you never were my thing...
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
                        Once again...

I save lots of time by gaming while watching TV.

In someones signature at some MMORPG site I saw the words:

You don't stop playing because you get old, but you get old because you stop playing.

So, old man Dis, go load up a game you enjoy. There's no better fountain of youth.

I played, so no slot to vote.

My first computer game was Lords of Midnight by Mike Singleton

                              for Spectrum (1984).

                              Best regards,
