I like how IGN's title is what you said, but the article that it is quoting verbatim's title is: "US Wii sales beat 1.2m estimate - analyst While PS3 may have only shifted 700,000 units"
Heh. I guess IGN didn't like that title. And I'm not sure where the respectable sales part comes from in the original article.

700,000 is significant considering the Wii costs about 1/4 of what the PS3 does, and Wii only sold 500,000 more, despite much wider availability.Comment

The wii sold every single console on the shelves (not that they ever make it that far).
PS3 is readily available at bestbuy and target now. I saw 20-30 at bestbuy at the end of december.
I don't think Sony fanboys should be comparing the Sony launch to the Nintendo one...Comment

700,000 isn't significant. The 360 did way better when it launched.

The PS3 had way less than 700,000 units at launch. Please compare apples with apples.
