im not quite understanding your simcity2000 love, perf. I mean it was the first PC game I ever bought, I loved it, but finally I saw same lacks in it. No real social upgrading and downgrading of neighborhoods - I mean it was made in the '90s, I lived in baltimore at the time, the most exciting thing happening in the city was the steady improvements to neighborhoods, and it looked like the easiest thing to model in a game. And the densities and commute distances and all were such it seemed impossible to get a city that actually looked like a real city, at least a real US city. And I think there were other things I wanted, I dont remember. I mean it was cool, and it was a landmark, but I cant beleive that SC3000 or SC4 havent made some major improvements (excluding graphics)

SimCity 3000 adds relatively little to game play. They basicly took the SimCity 2000 engine added more rewards, a new utility and cutesy stuff and removed the charm and newspapers of the original

SimCity 4 is a fine game that adds significant depth, but it's tiring dealing with the massively excessive micromanagement.

Of course, as a person who knows a massive amount of really neat tricks in SimCity 2000 I am somewhat biased.

Avernum 4 is the smallest game of Avernum-series, content-wise. It's plot and sub-plots are also the least immersive. Go for Avernum 3 or Blades of Avernum instead.

Though the graphics are strangely lousy, I've been enjoying Tales of the Abyss on the PS2.

SimCity 5 (tentative name) has already been confirmed as being under development. Let's hope they bring back our precious.

And before anyone says it: No, arcologies were not possible in SC4 because of the hardcoding. All the modders could do was make larger buildings. A lot of effort was put in by someone at Simtropolis (I forget his name) to make arcologies without hacking the .exe and he gave up after getting almost nowhere. Arcologies should NOT have been removed from the series.

That is one aspect of the game they could innovate on - making your cities span time. Start in the Victorian era, and move into the future.

A bit CIVish I suppose, but if they kept the Sim-basic principles, that could be a fun gameplay change.
