back in elementary school we once wrote stories about the future. I recall one great excerpt from one of my classmates that went like this....

"2050. The US flag now has 300 stars on it since we took over Canada and Mexico. I also designed a new flag for the Soviet Union, which has a jet fighter crossed with a missile."

I wonder if this guy is working for a defense contractor now. a couple of my classmates from then indeed are...

though I wrote equally, if not more so, apocalyptic stories in that class, and now I'm in the business of building rather than razing cities.

Round 0

Rome didn't burn in a day.

At first glance, one could hardly tell that order had broken down in the galaxy. Commerce still thrived and construction was reaching new heights, with the biggest real estate expansion in years colonizing 11 new planets, doubling the settled area of the galaxy.

Never mind that most of this building was done by forced labor, or tended to be heavily fortified...

But, looking deeper into the shipyards, one could smell the crisp burnt smell of Laser.

Unlike his civilian counterparts, General Ordin wasn't waiting around, and placed an order for 32 laser ships. This gave him the first, largest, and only fleet in the galaxy... for now.

I'm going to be out of town next week until Monday night. However, if all orders can get in by Thursday at 7PM Pacific time, I may be able to process round 1 then.
