Do you mean subsequent patches? I was only aware of one game with the name? This one:

Fate of the Dragon is a large-scale real-time strategy game that depicts one of the most famous and turbulent periods in Chinese history - the Three Kingdoms era. Following the collapse of the empire at the end of the Han Dynasty, heated opposition...

That game is more along the lines of AoE, it adds a few aspects such as supply lines etc, and is probably my favourite game of the rts genre.

Were you meaning these games - the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series?

A strategy series developed and published by KOEI that is based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel version and uses pingyin romanization for the translation of Chinese names. Story The...

I came to them quite late(a few years ago) and sadly just found the graphics of the origonal a bit too difficult to put up with on the pc version. So i settled on number III as a compramise. Its an ok game - i think the concept might actualy be better than the execution, but i'm glad i have it - you cant have enough old-school strat games imho

Glad someone else has played these. Probably my favourite Amiga RPG. I do have all three for the PC but I can't get sound to work in XP and it was also a bit too fast in the combat to see what was happening.

The second game, Star Trail, was fun for a while but the fact you caught a disease every other turn and eventually died made it less fun
Thats a shame - have you tried using DOSBox to run it? although sound is a major issue when running old games on new hardware.

have a look at this handy site - it might be able to help you out with the sound problem(it definately will with the speed issues)

This was what I replied to. You implied that those not liking the game must not like the style of gameplay. In the absence of a huge number of 3rd person shooters I made the natural point that despite the fact I like the genre generally I thought Max Payne was weak. Whether or not it's a third or first person shooter doesn't really make a difference (neither are 'mining for ore' for instance) of course.

Thus your response that Max Payne isn't FPS made me chuckle, as it in no way relates to the discussion.

I would never think of comparing Max Payne to an FPS. I can see why someone would (ammo and aiming), but the combat is substantially different. Moreover, the presentation and style of the game is radically different from the stale aesthetic of your average FPS. Max Payne features a handful of FPS stalwarts, such as warehouses and 'facilities', but most of the game takes place in more original locations, like sleazy hotels, wine cellars, nightclubs, etc. And there's none of this 'silent protagonist' nonsense either.

QW(quakeworld) 4on4 TDM(team deathmatch). The original TDM for quake series and still the best. Not to mention more active than ****ty games like Q2, Q3, or Q4 despite being much older.

You should try EQL being in EU and all. Four vs four TDM divided into skill divisions. Sixty teams or so. QW is the only id game to have really long legs competitively. Everything else has died out over time pretty much. QW/CPM/Warsow/ZDaemon will probably have legs as well for years to come so those would be good to get into too.

                            Unreal Tournament
Best fps ever. Also very well made, working behind firewalls, without registry settings, etc. Also supports many thousands( 1000+) bots easily and without lagging, even on older equipment. I have personally had over 2500 bots on a map at once, no probs(1700 mhz amd and geforce5, old stuff). Multiplayer is still active too. Adding more than 16 bots requires console commands though.

Nah, my competitive FPS days are behind me I think.
