It was decent, but the story degenerated into nonsense towards the end. Loved the start though.
I'm playing Space Rangers 2 again. It's a fantastic game.
I only played 8 hours or so
it kept me up, so was a good game, although I haven't gone back to it

I grew bored of it after an hour. But I'm like this with most shooters. They just don't interest me. Even though there was a little bit of story, I had no desire to see how it turned out.
Yeah they always seemed very scripted liniar games to me - ok if you like your games to be more like a movie, but thats not what i personally look for in a computer game.
As for more suggestions:
some historic citybuilder type games:
CaesarII or III by Impressions
Pharoah+Cleaopatra expansion also by Impressions
Three Kingdoms - fate of the dragons
Sci-Fi stuff:
Mech Commander gold - the only true strat game in the series, its fun designing mech builds. not 3D unlike the other games in the series.
X-wing + Tie-Fighter games - not exactly strat, but can tax the grey matter on the tougher missions, and essential if your a starwars fan.
Imperium Galactica games - strat lite but nice looking planet building and space combat games.

Anyone here play the Max Payne series?
I love it but probably doesn't fit in here that much?
Both games got pretty good reviews, but they aren't really that good. Most of it was hyoe about bullet time, which is quite good fun, but not enough to elevate these games above mediocrity. Very short too.

I played the first one a little, but never finished it. The game itself wasn't anything special, what made this game stand out was the bullet time, which I hated (never used it, as it just made the game more boring than it already was)
The dream levels were very annoying, not only did they felt pointless, but they also froze my machine all the time. Took me several hours to beat the first dream level, and even more for the second, by the third one I gave up
I only played that far because I didn't have anything else to play at that time

To me, the original (first release) is the best. It has a nice, simple elagance to it. Each subsequent version only makes it more complicated.

5. Realms of Arkania - another old crpg, this one party based. Look for the first one to start of(Blade of Destiny) or the trilogy pack. Huge epic crpg based on a german(so that means detailed) pen+paper system. Months/years of gaming ahead
Glad someone else has played these. Probably my favourite Amiga RPG. I do have all three for the PC but I can't get sound to work in XP and it was also a bit too fast in the combat to see what was happening.
The second game, Star Trail, was fun for a while but the fact you caught a disease every other turn and eventually died made it less fun

Well I'm an FPS fan, and have played all major contributions to the genre. Max Payne and the sequel are ok games in my view, but no more than that.
