Endgame?


The Hordes hit the road for another round of carnage.


With all real opposition in ruins, the Austral Hordes needed only to take out their "useful idiots" to secure victory.

Unfortunately for the Hordes, Spaced Cowboy and Ljube, however useful they may have been, were no idiots. The pair had readied themselves for the final confrontation and, through a combination of luck, skill, guile and opponent error, they managed to all-but negate the Hordeses's massive numerical, naval and production advantage.

Round 8.1
Frigate Cruiser Ping




Knowing that an all-out attack would be coming, Spaced Cowboy decided that a ping of some empty Austral bases was in order. Checking into a hotel in Melbourne with just a spy and two Laser Cruisers, he was able to both counteract the spy that James had sent to pin him down and seize all of tism's undefended bases.

Spaced Cowboy gains 15 (!) bases.

Spy Games




One spy against James could be written off as a lucky guess. A second spy, however, can only mean that Ljube had prior knowledge of the Hordes' plan of attack.

While the first spy merely allowed Spaced to act unimpeded, the second kept James from joining his fellows.

Round 8.3
The Main Event






The Hordes had decided to mop things up in their usual straight-ahead manner. They agreed on an all-out attack against Spaced Cowboy, leaving Ljube (as per the terms of their secret pact with the duplicitous one) for last.

When they learned that James would not be joining them, tism and Blondie were not overly disappointed. They still had more than enough to take care of Spaced, they thought, and it would just mean more bases for them. When Rubychaser also failed to show up in Spaced's home system at the appointed hour, they began to get a little worried. After all, Jaguar had done a lot of damage against two-to-one odds in the last round of attacks.

Then their sensors picked up Ljube's fleet along side that of Spaced Cowboy....

No, 3 total. One each by Spaced and Ljube against James, and one by James against Spaced.

Ah... I neglected to mention the fleets:

tism's 1 Laser Frigate, 18 Fighter Battleships, and 24 Torpedo Battleships; and Blondie's 1 Laser Frigate, 35 Fighter Frigates, 27 Torpedo Frigates, and 16 Torpedo Cruisers face Spaced Cowboy's 19 Laser Cruisers, 6 Fighter Cruisers, 29 Torpedo Frigates and 1 Torpedo Cruiser; and Ljube's 14 Laser Frigates, 2 Laser Cruisers, 20 Laser Battleships, 5 Fighter Battleships, 1 Torpedo Cruiser and 10 Torpedo Battleships.
