Yea, that's crazy. I've got a friend who has a 360 and decent computer and asked me which version to get. I told him so long as he's got a decent video card then PC version hands down if anything so you can mod it. I told him if he has no interest in mods then perhaps the 360 version would be right for him.
I see tons of posts on the elder scrolls forums from 360 users wondering how they can install these great mods that are being created. Uhhh, well, you can't. Duh.
I still play the Xbox 360 version on account of its interface feeling far friendly with the gamepad than keyboard/mouse, the graphics being better, and not getting motion sickness.
It also helps to play it on a 36" HDTV vs 19" LCD, and a 650W surroundsound system. I love it when theres a thunderstorm in the game.
I've installed the PC version incase there's mods I'm interested in, but so far the mods all seem stupid to me (most of them are about adapting the interface to the PC more).

Yep.. that's always amusing .

seems like you'd get more motion sickness with the big screen. Depends on how close you sit to it I guess.
I got a 350 w sound system with my computer. It sounds great.
It has more to do with the inconsistent framerate on the computer, I think. HL2 also gave me motion sickness on the PC, but not on consoles.

... except you can use the XBox controller with your PC (or buy a better one ) as Oblivion works more or less fine with game controllers; and you can hook your TV up to your PC if you so wish ...

I don't have any issue with those that want to play Oblivion on the 360. If I had a big HDTV, I might even do that myself (and if I were not 4000 miles away from my living room).
Actually, I would be tempted to use the (forthcoming) fancy new laptop and play the PC version on the big tv...
Anyway, my actual point...
How does the 360 version look on a standard TV?
Better yet, show her some awesomely rendered Flax flowers...then mix her a nice Restore Fatigue potion before bed.
A nice idea, but she didn't like it. And she did indeed express her displeasure at the purchase.
She also did "convince" me to agree to new french doors to replace the sliding glass door in the den, new carpet for downstairs and to refinish the hardwood floors upstairs. I suspect that many more items will creep into that list of projects for when I get back home...

Samuel L. Jackson doesn't approve of this. He wouldn't let something like this happen.

Tell her that this was your project . Why does she get all the money for her projects anyway?

My upgrades are complete. I increased the ram to 2.5 gigs, I had 4x256 sticks, removed two and added two 1 gig modules. I added an ide hard drive and a DVD-RW drive. I've been without a cd burner of any kind since my laptop died.
My frakenstein computer now has:
1 SCSI hard drive:
1 SATA hard drive:
1 EIDE hard drive:
My SCSI drive is old, but reliable and has my OS on it. I havn't had much luck with SATA drives so I opted to add an IDE this time for storage. Also running 3.06 P4 800 bus and a Radeon X800.
I got the 2 gigs of ram PC3200, the 120g hard drive and the DVD burner for 275 bucks after shipping. I really needed the ram for Civ 4 and have been holding back on getting it since Civ 4 came out.
