      Spike....REPORT!!

wink, nod and all o' that.
While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

The first few hours of WoW are really great. I uh, mean the first few hours after the install, register, patch, hair-pulling, angry ranting etc.

I remember running around Durotar with my Troll murderizing the humans in the keep there. When I tried to sleep that night WoW was pretty much etched into my retinas, not the first game that has that effect (the first?, that would be Oh No More Lemmings), but I certainly didn't have to spend any time warming up to the game.

Then it took about 8 months to cool down to the game enough to stop playing .

I got 1 hour of play in. It was almost cruel. After downloading the game there was the big patch, which I was kind of expecting. But then there was a series of little patches and one medium one. However, unlike GW, it didn't download all these at once. No, it made me log in each time and think that I was done patching. Downright cruel really.

I got my mage to level 4 though. More tonight, and no doubt more this weekend.

yeah, those patches were a *****. The first 10 levels go by pretty quick, but they start taking longer soon after, at least for me.

They'll probably go by quite fast for me.

                    Questions for the WoWists:

                    1) When can I buy a bigger bag to keep my loot in?
                    2) Which tradeskills should I do, and should I start them now (I'm level 9)

i'm certainly still learning this game, but it would seem you could buy a bigger bag from a general merchant now. Funny, I got most of mine from monster loot so I can't remember where I may have bought one.

I can't speak to the profession choice of a mage, but Blizzard's site reccomends tailoring, enchanting, herbalism and alchemy.

And my two cents is to start them as soon as possible because they need to be used and "levelled up" as well before they become really useful.

I can't speak for Mage talents either (you'll get your first one at level 10, 1 every level after).

But, Bliz's site has a handy talent calculator to play with different builds. And you can change them later for a price.

Edit: Certainly Agathon and others will be more help since I remember posting a thread a month and a half ago asking what the heck wow was...and they responded with experience.

                        1) Right now (or by lvl8-10, once you have some cash or stuff to sell for cash). You can pick up Linen bags (6 slots) really cheaply at the Auction House (like 2s IIRC) and even the Silk Packs (10 slots) are quite affordable (40s IIRC). If you need cash, try selling stacks of linen on the Auction House (it is your friend), just slightly undercut the existing prices.

                        2) Those conductive to being an Auction House whore of course. I suggest mining and skinning, just sell the early leathers to the NPC vendor because they don't sell for much on the AH (unless your server is messed up), but make sure to sell all the ore (smelted into bars) on the AH, you can make a killing selling copper bars. On some servers a single stack will go for as much as 1g (40-60s is often more reasonable, though).

If you want to do things the hard, painful way, take Tailoring and Skinning (several tailoring recipes require leather), but bear in mind it's always cheaper to sell the raw materials and buy the finished goods, because of people twinking professions on their alts (you're competing with people fully prepared to raise their profession at a massive gold loss, because they have the gold to burn). So I'm really inclined to say your first toon should be a cash cow.

                        DO NOT TAKE ENCHANTING.

My realm was utterly messed up in January when I started leveling my mining/skinning alt. I could sell a stack of copper bars or a stack of light leather for 1 g a pop at best. It was insane, and made me filthy rich. Never mind silk cloth!

Now that the war effort is over, my alt has moved over to mining iron for skill and bucks.

                            Thanks!

I presume the auction house is in that big city I just found? I started in Northshire Abbey.

Skinning and mining it is. However, I haven't seen the trainers. Any maps?

Also, what drops should I be keeping? I have a feeling I may have noobily sold some stuff I should keep, including linen, copper ore and malachite.

I presume you're in Stormwind, which does have an Auction House, yes. (It only showed up in the latest patch, before that you had to get to Ironforge to get to an AH. ) To find stuff in any of the big cities (Darnassus, IF, SW) just walk up to a guard and talk to him. They'll mark whatever you ask for on the map.

If you want to develop your first aid skill, you need to learn first aid from the cathedral in SW and start creating linen bandages. You need linen cloth for that. Copper ore is what you'll be mining from copper veins, you smelt it with your mining skill to bars to sell, so you shouldn't sell that to a vendor either.

Take the tram to Lagforge, go to the area in front of the bank, and see where every nerd with no life parks himself on a Saturday night.
