Apt Pupil
Master Agath Agathari of the Temple of Axis has spent his whole life in seclusion studying the scrolls left by his famous predecessor, Master Agath Agath. For as long as he could remember, he was trying to make some sense of it all, but with little success. Years passed and Master Agathari's understanding of the sacred scrolls was not increasing. It was still just a childish riddle to him. Even the title, "To fight over space is to fight over a whole lot of nothing" meant very little to him. He could not unlock the secrets hidden within the scrolls, and he knew, from the last words of his Master Agath Agath, yes, he was sure that the key to the real ultimate power lay somewhere in these scrolls. But where?
Finally one night after yet another futile attempt to understand the text written on the scrolls, Master Agathari was getting ready to go to bed, when a wraith of some kind appeared before him. At first Master Agathari thought it was an unholy spirit and shrunk a bit, but then, after a second look, some facial features of the wraith seemed familiar to him. Then the wraith spoke in demonic voice.
"My young apprentice, do you recognise me?"
"Master Agath Agath! Is that really you", Agath Agathari was surprised to see his master and still could not believe it was him.
"It is only my spirit, my body has long decomposed. But this spirit contains all that was the essence of Agath Agath", the spirit replied to now composed Agath Agathari.
"My master, I have tried for a very long time, ever since you died, I have tried to unlock the secrets hidden in the scrolls you wrote and left for me."
Agath Agathari didn't finish the sentence as Master Agath Agath's spirit interrupted him.
"Yes, and? What have your learned from my scrolls?"
"Nothing, my master, absolutely nothing. I'm an utter failure master. My followers listen to my own teachings, not yours, as I was unable to read the scrolls you left me. They seem illogical to me, like a childish riddle, saying many things and nothing at the same time."
"That was the whole point, my young apprentice. The scrolls indeed do say nothing. They are really only a childish riddle."
"But, but, how can this be? Then my whole life was wasted?"
"Not entirely, young Agath. I will teach you the ultimate wisdom now. It will only take a few minutes."
"Few minutes for your collected knowledge? That cannot be."
"Few minutes and your own teachings into which you will incorporate my guidelines. That and your ability to see right from wrong and your keen sense for making the right decision."
"That sense has not been practiced for many years I have spent on the childish riddle of yours."
"Listen carefully as I must leave this realm soon. Build only one type of ships, it's easier that way, you need fewer experts and you can still deal a mighty punch. Then, set your OoB to XMX-YYY, where X is the type of ships you possess, while Y is void as you possess no other ships, you may fill in Ys at will."
"Master Agath, what is that M?"
"M is for manoeuvre, my young apprentice. Ah, I'm being called back, I must leave. One more thing, do not forget to back off to avoid lazzorgeddons."
"Must you leave yet Master? How about TMF-FMT?"
"Much to learn you still have."
With this the spirit of Master Agath Agath disappered into thin air.
Next thing we know, Agath Agathari built a fleet and get on to attack the man who was threatening his monastery at the dark moon of Axis, Lord Vetko himself, former commander of the Imperial army and now one of the prime candidates for the title of Galactic Overlord.
Agath Agathari attacks! Lord Vetko
Agath Agathari: 10LF, 22FF, 10TF, OoB: LTF-FLT, back off, fight to death
Lord Vetko: 9LB, 1LC, OoB: LML-FFT, close in, spread out
Well, the pupil would not listen to his Master and built a balanced fleet and used a very poor OoB. These are the results:
10L - 29L - Agath Agathari takes 19 hits
5T - M - Lord Vetko takes 5 hits
44F - 116L - Agath Agathari takes 72 hits
Lord Vetko has no losses and Master Agath Agathari loses a whole bunch of ships (all fighters and 8 laser frigates). The battle continues with only Agath Agathari dealing the damage. But due to the near destruction of his fleet the damage dealt is meagre.
0F - 0F - no damage
4L - 0F - Lord Vetko takes 4 hits
10T - 0T - Lord Vetko takes 10 hits
Lord Vetko loses 1 laser cruiser and 1 laser battleship. In the following 3 rounds Agath Agathari loses the rest of his ships and Lord Vetko loses another laser battleship. Master Agath Agathari must recoil back to his dark moon of Axis where he must study the sacred scroll more thoroughly and pay heed to the advice received from the spirit of his teacher.Last edited by Ljube; March 7, 2006, 18:50.

Big Trouble near the Little Black Hole
There are two principal players operating on the Galactic Rim: Tashi, the foremost authority on Imperialish, nowadays a dying language and Dr. Point, the foremost authority on everything else. A showdown between them was just a matter of time.
But Dr. Point was smart and got ready. He modified a standard solar rejuvenator to serve for the purpose of draining energy from a black hole near his research facilities. He then channelled this energy into a shield of such power it inflicted 18 HP of damage on the assault force sent by Tashi.
Tashi attacks! Dr. Point, but hits shield
Tashi lost a total of 18 hit points worth of shipping, i.e. 6 torpedo frigates. It was later discovered that Tashi attacked Dr. Point due to yet another miscommunication arising from his poor command of English language. Well, this time his stubborn adherence to Imperialish resulted in real casualties, not only foiled plans for attack.
But this was not all, as another fleet appeared on Dr. Point's sensors. It was the champion of righteousness, Reverend Ken Banobi who attacked the unethical researcher. Still, the result was the same, Dr. Point remained snug and secure while Ken Banobi lost some ships, 2 laser battleships to be exact.

Emergency Funding
After the setback in the last round, General Ordin was left with a sizeable force but with very little funds. Maintaining large armies is expensive, so he turned to the fat banker Mr. Danz, CEO of Danz Group for a loan. Danz granted him a loan, but the interest rates he imposed on General Ordin were killing him, so the good general had little choice but to deal with his creditor in the field in which he had the upper hand, the field of battle.
General Ordin attacks! Danz
General Ordin: 37LF, OoB: LML-TTF, close in, spread out, fight to the death
Danz: 4TB, 1LF, 1FF, OoB: MTT-FLF, back off, spread out
"Yeah, I'm going down, but I'm taking some of your ships with me", hissed Danz.

Orders sentLast edited by Lazerus; March 8, 2006, 16:02.Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.
