Old Scores
Galactic Empire is in disarray. The leaders of various factions have assumed de facto control of the areas previously under their influence and turned them into private haciendas with only one purpose: To claim the ultimate prize - late Emperor's throne.
This is also the age of lawlessness. Without a central government to check their ambitions and private wars, the overlords indulge their desires to settle some old scores, to confront their foes in decisive battles and taste the sweet fruit called vengeance. But this fruit may at times be poisonous...
General Ordin attacks! Schmoonich
General Ordin: 37LF, OoB: LML-TTF, close in, spread out, fight to the death!, attack whoever is there
Schmoonich: 1LF, 1FF, 1TF, OoB: TMT-LFF, back off
Totally outgunned and outclassed, Schmoonich is destroyed in the first wave of attack and his sole base is occupied by General Ordin. Total victory at last! Cause for celebration. Or not?
Captain Imperium attacks! General Ordin
For there is another overlord who has unsettled scores with the good general. The final settlement is going to have to wait for some other time however, since General Ordin left no ships at home. At least the whole enterprise was not in vain as Captain Imperium netted one base.

Old Scores Part 3
I don't know what else to say, except that none of these first round battles was a total surprise to me.
Colony I attacks! Zol Ventis
Colony I: 12LC, 1FC, OoB: MLL-FFT, close in, spread out, fight to the death
Zol Ventis: 4TB, 1TC, OoB: MTT-FLF back off, spread out
Totally outgunned and outclassed, Zol Ventis is destroyed in the third wave of attack and his three bases are occupied by Colony I. Total victory at last! Cause for celebration. Vengeance sweet as honey.Last edited by Ljube; March 3, 2006, 23:16.

Imperialish? How about English?
For the last 15 years Tashi has been teaching Imperialish to the less fortunate students on the Galactic Rim. He was so consumed with his studies of this artificial language (but official in the former Empire) that he had started to think in Imperialish and regrettably had forgotten most of his English, which is his native language. When the Galactic Imperium broke apart, Tashi quickly noticed an opportunity for himself and the areas belonging to the Galactic Rim, a district previously neglected by the central government.
Tashi gathered his students and set about industrial facilities for production of intergalactic ships. He financed his projects from generous donations by the smugglers operating in the Galactic Rim, who now started to recognise Tashi as the highest authority in the area.
All was well except for one thing. Experienced officers and other military personnel, as well as engineers in his service spoke only English, not Imperialish. Time was precious so he had to communicate with them using what little English he still remembered.
No wonder they misunderstood him.
First his engineers were ordered to construct a special. They did not understand which special he wanted them to construct so they used their best judgement. Then same engineers were ordered to spend 37 BPs on various shipping. Again, the engineers assumed it was a miscommunication so they only spent the amount of BPs they had at their disposal, which was 15 and built 10 torpedo frigates and 5 carrier frigates instead of 10 torpedo frigates, 10 carrier frigates and 17 laser frigates ordered by Tashi.
Finally, when Tashi ordered an attack, he learned that his officers were on two weeks shore leave, because they interpreted his previous announcement that way.
Obviously, either Tashi needs to practice his English a bit more, or his officers and engineers need to learn some Imperialish. Otherwise misunderstandings like this could happen again.Last edited by Ljube; March 3, 2006, 23:47.
